Fatjoez, I replied your PM. But just in case, here’s the info.
iCarbon has two options for the 1 series in terms of hoods, and both would look great color-matched and painted ☺ With proven experience with the BMW 1 series, they are the ONLY company who has addressed the hood flex at high speeds issue by implementing a proprietary reinforcement technique used by race teams such as Mercedes AMG GMbH that uses space-grade metals within the carbon fiber up front to reduce hood flex, while maintaining performance-spec weight savings. Here’s a few pictures of their iCS Vented hood: Cheers, Sal@DTMrack.com |

Yep
Icarbon all the way. I have heard horror stories of seibon and pretty bad stories of vorsteiner and the price tag sucks. Also check out WSTO's part out as they have a 3d design hood which is probably the best quality out there and the same price as the vorsteiner. If you made a reasonable offer they would probably take it too.

Might be in the market for a hood soon and I like this iCarbon the best so far.
However the site above has no price or ordering information for the hood as far as I could tell. It'd be nice to at least display the price even if I have to call in to order. If it's a price I'm willing to pay then I'll follow up, if it's not then everyone's time gets wasted while I chase the price down. Can I get it painted before shipping? |

Rawhide,
We've just now included iCarbon to our roster of companies we wish to carry, and are now their largest stocking distributor. The reason the parts were not on the website until today is because of the newness of the relationship. You can find some of the specs on the website now, but the full specs won't be available on the website until October 15th. As with any other company on the DTMrack roster, we are selective on who we decide to carry. We are careful only to include companies we feel have a quality or innovation that represent the true needs of the motor sport. In other words, if we carry it, it is probably the best product, with the best quality in its category. If you'd like to see why they are, please read some of the articles we've written to help you all understand the anatomy of aftermarket pieces. And ALWAYS remember, that we are here to help answer any question you might have with an answer bias ONLY to quality. Cheers, Setian Last edited by DTMrack.com; 09-28-2010 at 06:47 PM.. |

The 1er should have two latches, but it doesnt. It has one dead center. And the applied torque of the lift caused by air moving at, lets say due to drag, 100 mph through the engine bay times the 2 feet from that point to the hood latch causes a sizable moment.
