NEW 1-Series in China - Love or Hate?
Kyle B brought this to my attention, a new 1-Series is set for China. Couldn't find any other posts on this so here goes.
See here for an article from Motor Trend: http://www.motortrend.com/news/china...-series-sedan/ It sounds very much like an eco-box option from BMW: "Buyers have a choice between a twin-scroll turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder or boosted 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The smaller engine cranks out 136 horsepower and is mated to six-speed automatic; the latter boasts 192 hp with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can choose between three driving modes — Comfort, Sport(wat.), or Eco Pro — to adjust the ride and save on fuel." Given our known understanding of recent BMW steering and handling offerings I think this car is really going to be the epitome of a "commuter" BMW. The 1-series we know and love was the smallest and cheapest of it's time, but it was one of the most fun to drive out of the whole lineup. What do you all think? Yay or nay on this?

I remember reading about this car some time ago: 4-door 1 series based on the new Mini, front-wheel drive, 3 cylinder engine (from the new Mini).
To me it looks more like a 2 series than a 1 series. I think it's ugly. We don't need no front-wheel drive car from BMW here. We got the Mini and it does pretty well. Let it stay in China... please. NAY I say NAY!

Yeah, except the Mini is fun. At least it was. I hear the new one, not so much.
This car doesn't look fun. More like a 'get you from A to B' car.

Ah yes, it technically is but it's obviously not the same and their ratings have tanked.

Yeah, China can keep that one. They need to rename it too. Front wheel drive, 4cyl. - that's not a 1 Series.
