air conditioner goes on automatically
Hi all
I noticed today that the air conditioner, being off, turns on automatically!... it never happened before. Any ideas? The car is a 135i N55 DCT. Thanks |

You have automatic climate control. You dial in the temperature, digitally, and the climate control takes over mixing warm and conditioned air to achieve the temperature you want.
I actually prefer my Mercedes that doesn't have automatic climate control, an $850 option. You can manually switch on/off the A/C. |

I think there is something in the I-Drive or other menus on this; my 2 1-Series do the same thing, but I think you can disable it. Need to check.

Read the following to understand Automatic Climate Control. As I said, the A/C and engine heat are used in a very sophisticated way to condition the air in the vehicle: http://www.raccars.co.uk/news/articl...limate-control |

Mine always turns on if you hit the "auto" button, even if you have it set to maximum heat. I always manually turn it off if not needed.
I believe this is a factory setting, as I saw a defeat of this feature listed as an option by someone advertizing coding services. |

Sometimes, my wife fiddles with the controls when I am not looking. She is very stealthy.
Do you drive with a co-pilot?
