I Need A Good Tire Pressure Gauge

I cannot seem to find a decent tire pressure gauge anywhere. I prefer the stick type over dials and digitals. For me, the stick types are easy to use with one hand and fit better in tight spaces. But the crap they sell at the typical places (WallyMart, Autoz0ne, etc.) seem to last about a month and are very inaccurate.

Can you recommend an accurate, durable stick type pressure gauge?

But they seem to start at around sixteen bucks and go upwards...

You can order online direct at Snap-On...

I like the ones that will also handle liquid solution. The only real difference is they auto retract after you take them off the tire, you don't have to push them back in.

I actually keep this exact gauge in my travel bag for checking tire pressures on rental cars. They are notoriously off.

Ya, I know, $25, but not bad for a gauge that actually works.

Yeah...Mighty Mouse and Dackel are full of good advice if you can afford it. Trouble is, I need six gauges so that I can keep one in each car and motorcycle, and keep one with my compressor. I don't really want to spend $150 - $300 just on tire gauges.

I have this one. ~$9. I'm not certain it's accurate, but it's very precise.

Thanks for the tip, but 273 out of 1650 Amazon buyers submitted critical reviews... mainly citing inaccuracy, but also DOA batteries, poor design (must turn off and back on between every measurement), failure to work below 50 degrees F, and so on. I think I will pass on this one, but thanks anyway.

Consumer Reports had this listed as a top pick. Glad you like it. I am trying to stay with something that does not require batteries. With six pressure gauges in service (3 cars, 1 motorcycle, 1 tractor, 1 on the bench), replacing three batteries in each every year would be costly and time consuming. Thanks anyway.

Not a stick type, but this one is fantastic. Easy to use, accurate and has an air pressure release button for fine tuning the pressure if you put too much air in. (credit to gregthegr8 for referring me to it).

I've had my Accutire gauge for 3-1/2 years and haven't replaced the battery yet.

Can't go wrong with a good Longacre analog tire guage. Cost more but will last forever and be accurate.

I have purchased at least 5 of these, some are multiple years old, and I've never replaced a battery. You are likely to lose it, or run over it, or it get "borrowed" before you have to replace the battery. Not a big drawback.

People who complain of the battery being dead when they received it, probably just did not remove the little tab that prevents the battery from connecting.

Always take amazon reviews with the grain of salt. The average human is a moron.

I recently replaced my broken Snap-On with a Joe's Racing, and I'm very pleased with it.

I purchased a Joe's Racing based on reviews here and I love it. Obviously a little bulkier than a stick but it is a nice piece of hardware. I keep mine in the trunk in the battery compartment.

I will also recommend the Joe's Racing gauge, very accurate and makes adjusting pressures easy. I have been using this gauge for the past 2 Solo seasons and it works like a charm paired up with my portable air compressor.

I was worried about those reviews too. I compared mine to two other gauges today, a stick type and a vintage, made in the USA Sears dial gauge. It was within 1psi of both of them. I must have gotten a good one.

The auto off is annoying though! It wouldn't be so bad if it just turned right back on, but if you get too click happy you change from psi to bar.
