Video 135i Lights

Made a quick video of the 135i's headlights, and a buddy of mine saw it, and asked if he could try the same with his SLR+HD camera. We kinda went a little crazy, but I think the result is pretty neat.

Original 640x480 short version:

Longer, SLR+HD version:

Also on YouTube at (HD):

I think BMW lights are cool!

Haha funny.
We lit a paper towel, let it burn for a little, and put it out. Makes lots of smoke. Which is great to have in an enclosed garage...

very well done video.

my previous car had HID's and adjustible headlights (manual, based on load).

so what exactly is the car doing? besides making it seem like it's the Terminators eye's or something?

I thought the same thing - looks very Terminator like. Are you Sarah Conner?

There's some self leveling requirement for European cars with HIDs:

"Internationalized European vehicle regulations require such headlamps to be equipped with lens cleaners and an automatic self-leveling system to keep the beams aimed correctly regardless of vehicle load and attitude, but no such devices are required in North America, where inherently more glaring beam patterns are also permitted."

I may be mistaken, but I think it's required in the US as well, if the self leveling system is also taking care of high/low beams as it does on the 135i.

Cool videos, and it's a good excuse for me to whore mine out again.

Here they are in action:
