tuning tools/ flash
why is it that there is no flash tool out there for our platform that allows us to
tune our own maps! hondata/cobb all those guys do real time reading, and can data log every thing. im sure we could get more out of our motors then just a base tune for mods that we have. evolve and AA tunes are great and all but, it doesnt take it to the next level, for example the elevation is going to take a toll on how our cars run, temperature, ect ect no car is created equal. all of these things make me miss my mazdaspeed 3. |

assuming the learning curve of such a tuner isn't so drastic, i'd be very interested in something like that. Too bad it would be a bitch to source.
Edit: oh ma lord he's going to 8k. There's zero engine work on that motor?

my dash also is a christmas tree on dyno. It is the ABS tire pressure sensors that do this. The TPS in tires are not used in certain markets.

I don't understand this thread. You're asking a bunch of strangers on the internet what it would take for Evolve to make some sort of hypothetical software? Ask Evolve. How could anyone here possibly answer the questions you're asking? Not to mention, the ECU should adjust automatically to many of the parameters you're talking about (elevation, etc.).

BTW, this is what Evolve has to say about "Custom Tuning" on their website, straight from the horse's mouth:
Q. Why do you not offer custom tuning? A. Custom tuning is a fallacy. This misconception has been spread by many as a way to increase revenue. Modern ECU's adapt very, very well. Our tunes are written to increase output while retaining the adaption of the standard ECU (like most tuners). The only time we need to alter our highly developed tunes is when major restrictions have been deleted (such as catalytic converters within the exhaust). We develop the tune, what we call stage 2, to take this into account. To the ECU it does not matter which exhaust you installed, it will adapt, but will be pushing X times harder around these increased adaption values. We have seen many tuners sell lower boost files as 'canned' tunes and subsequently load higher boost files when cars are on the dyno to attempt to show gains from this method. But, you cannot live-tune a modern ECU through the OBD-II port. It is simply not fast enough. If your tuner says he can, walk away and find a reputable software engineer. Q. But I've been told I need a tune for my specific car? A. You do not need a specific map created for your specific car. Each vehicle ECU programming is not individual. They come out of the factory the same. Adaption will take care of any small mods you have, such as air intakes. All ECU tunes are calibrated from stock (i.e. factory) values. The only customization required is based on your specific software model. There may be hundreds of software versions for each vehicle so we take a read of your ECU, adapt the maps to suit, and send back to you for writing.

I just wanted to add something here. I'm getting ready to take the plunge myself, and asked Evolve a few questions.
What you're essentially getting is a custom tune. You need to provide all the paramaters of the engine for Evolve first. Let's say you have an intake and exhaust, but you want the tune before you get the 3 stage manifold. Obviously the tune will accomodate all, but from Imram himself; it's best to have the pieces on first, and they'll send a tune file to suit. It's not exactly a one-size fits-all.
