Valet Parking F*cked Up my car

So stayed at hotel in town on Friday night. Checking out the next afternoon and I say to the girl i'm with jokingly, check for scratches. Her face drops. I say "don't even joke". she isn't. Right rear 1/4 panel deep scratches. side skirt, scratches, right side mirror scratches. Front right rim grinded. The valet certainly brushed against something.

I was pretty pissed but the hotel manager came out immediatley and was apologetic. Told me they would cover everything. That made it easier to take.

Took it to dealership so they could look at it. will get the estimate tuesday.

Sigh.

Will post pics later.

You're lucky the hotel is covering it. Most valet parking policies take no responsibility for damage caused to the vehicle while with them.

I'm curious what hotel this was given your Calgary location? I'd like to avoid using the valet there with my 1er!

Hope everything goes smoothly getting it fixed up and with them covering the bill.

I hesitate saying cause the hotel is covering it. I imagine no one there is on this website. But i would hate to say and then some how they reneg. Is this possible?

Its one i use all the time and will go back to in the future AND i will use valet parking again there. Might be stupid but thats how it is.

This is why I don't use valet parking...I don't care how ridiculous this may seem.

Typically that is for parking in a parking lot but not quite about valet since valets are the ONLY in control of the cars that they parked. If it was theft than that is something different. Then again, i could be wrong!

Well, did you see the story on the M5 board about the dealer wrecking his car and not covering it?

A guy I work with was a valet during college. After hearing his stories I will **never** use valet parking.

Sorry about this. I never use valet parking either. It is just not worth it. My aunt valet parked her car once a while ago, and as she left the garage, she saw it zoom away towards her house. As a precaution, she called the police and took a taxi home. Sure enough, the valet was there, robbing her house with her car!

I always throw an extra $10 tip to say hey you see that space right there in front. Heres half of your tip youll get the rest when my car doesnt move from where I put it.

They almost always go for it.

Same with my E46 M3 SMG. Went to get new tires and the guy sat in it for five minutes (with me watching through the window wondering when he was going to give up and come and get me) before he came and got me.

It's also a very wise decision NOT to enter your actual home address as a saved location in your Navi. Always put an address a few streets away.

I must say, as a Brit I never got this. Is it too hard to park your car yourself like we do over here. Come on guys, your parking spaces are twice as large as ours too, and we manage just fine

QFT. At "valet only" places I've tipped the valet so I could park my car up front.

I always tip well. ALWAYS.

Driving around today i feel as though the valet guys drove it a bit. I forgot to reset trip meter

It makes a noise (rubbing or a clicking) when making a sharp right hand turn.

Ugh.

Pictures tomorrow
