Perhaps someone that's already done this on a 1 or 3 Series can chime in here - we're not exactly sure what's needed to retrofit. I'm assuming you could tap into the source for the cigarette lighter?

I tapped one of the fuses for power and grounded on a bolt under the shift boot.
