Post Akrapovic 1M Exhaust: Some more details/info

We've all seen pictures and video clips of the 1M's being equipped with Akrapovic's prototype exhaust. I recently spoke with my representative at Akrapovic and he gave me a little more insight of it's general public release.

Akrapovic has authorized it's dealers to start taking pre-orders!!!

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=557745

1. Full titanium system
2. Optional Downpipes
3. It will be valved with an optional wireless control for the valve system
4. Retail is set to be near the M3's Akrapovic Exhaust pricing
5. Late September 2011 release

Definitely sounds promising!

Borrowed this pic from Jason

Here's some sample Akrapovic exhaust clips:

By valve do you mean it will have exhaust dumps?

Also its a catback right?

Fun fact. Akra makes an exhaust for the Fiat 500

What are the gains on a 5k+ system? Seems steep!

This system is for those that have cut weight everywhere that they can cut weight, but still need a full exhaust system.

It's a full exhaust system no doubt and I believe the E9X M3 exhaust is $5300...Pricey but I guess it seems reasonable to the ///M guys

I hope they will sell the rear muffler only... It´s pretty bad to pay 1/10 of what i payed for my car on a exhaust system!

LOL, I am used to paying 1100 for a turbo back system.... $5k is just brand robbery... in my opinion. If it isnt the lightes material out there and nets you 50 whp, thats just not worth it, especially when you can go to any exhaust shop and have them fabricate a straight pipe setup for less than a grand.

it aint 50whp...but look what you are getting:

Evolution system:
Titanium link pipe set
Titanium X-pipe with 100 cpsi high-flow catalysts and resonators
Titanium mufflers

Hard facts:
Plus 22 HP (at 5,730 rpm)
Plus 35 Nm/26 lbs-ft of torque (at 4,890 rpm)
24 kg/53 lbs. lighter than stock

Tail pipes:
4 titanium tail pipes
4 carbon fiber tail pipes

dont get me wrong, i have MUCH better places to spend $5,300.00...

They are beautiful to look at

1. Full Titanium
2. Valve control system

Sounds like a $5k exhaust to me.

I can't see this system netting 22hp. Straight pipes can't even do that much.

22hp? Where'd you get those numbers from?

Optional downpipes should really make a big difference

I think those are M3 facts, but the M3 system is a lot more complicated than 1M, so I can`t justify the same price tag as M3 (I actualy bought for my E90 M3 the full system).

I think it is worth it.

My first car I did full suspension.
Second car I did tune and intake.
This time I'm doing the exhaust.

So far the full suspension was my favorite but who knows what a 5k exhaust could do. haha

Ahhh, gotcha, didnt read that it was full Ti. Nice then, for those looking for ultimate weight cut... but for average joe, id stick with a set of straight pipe t3/t4 steel. Cheap and effective. You wont notice the Ti gains unless its on a race prepped/stripped car.

I think a full turbo back Ti system is just boss though!

I will be looking for an exhaust for the sound, not for a marginal weight saving or horsepower gain.

Assuming i can actually get hold of a physical car at some point of course!!
