No E90 in the "safetest car" testing of Insurance Institute
E90 did not make it into the top 10 of the safetest cars crash test by Insurance Institue.
Does what was said by Volvo's (did not make into the list as well) spokesman make sense? -- "It's just a philosophy on safety that is different from building cars to pass these kinds of tests, ........... they are built to protect occupants in real-world crashes, which are more complex events than a crash test could reasonably reproduce." Read here: http://www.cnn.com/2005/AUTOS/12/04/...ety/index.html

The E90 is not tested by the Institute of Highway Safety yet. They do not have the statistics to put it on the list. But rest assured... it's given a 100% rating by the Euro NCAP. Very few cars can do that.

And I think only cars that are tested both frontal and side collision get listed. So, this list is not very complete.
I am not sure but from my observations, when a car gets rated "G" for frontal, "G" for side, "G" for rear crash rating, it gets the "Gold". When frontal is rated at "G", side at "G", rear crash rating at "A", they get a "Silver". Not sure if there is a bronze but no cars are rated at "Bronze" yet. |
