Went with Buzz as my cars are up for renewal yesterday - $630 for the 135i, and $490 from the 125i. I did put the excess up to $2k though, but excess at $600 only cost $100-150 more.

I've just priced my renewal for a 2009 manual 135 coupe - agreed value of $60K, including hire car, one excess free glass claim per year and NCB protection, no drivers under 25, garaged and private use

RYNO (current insurer) - $1550.09 with $500 excess
BMW - $1961.70 with a $650 excess
GIO - $1517.61, or $1459.28 (with CTP) with a $600 excess
Coles (Northshore special) - started at $1414, but adding the hirecar, glass & protecting NCB, it ended at $2090 with a $650 excess

Interesting that, if I use their own numbers, they value the hire car at $76, the no excess glass claim at $61 and the protected NCB at 10% of premium - $177. That all adds to $314, plus the original estimate of $1414, for a total of $1728.

Not the final quote of $2090 - which is supposed to include a 10% discount for purchasing online. Granted it includes free roadside assistance that I don't want, and some once a month fuel discount - say $4.18 in value (what BS!!!)

So I guess the lesson is, look closely at the Coles offer - even the basic numbers don't add up.
Interesting. I switched the playdo from gio (990 prem) to coles (600 prem) for 55k insured, 500 deductable.

Noddy car is 1400 @ coles, 1050 @ gio. go figure!

Just received a favourable quote for 1M insurance from Shannons.
Premium less than $1700 with an excess of $1150, based upon limited usage ie twice per week.

Has anyone had concerns with Shannons, or is it all good for enthusiasts?

What modifications are you selecting? They never had an issue with me an i was 19 when i was insured with them. They have Mod Excesses rather than premium increases which is good if you don't claim.

They have/had (last time i checked) excesses for forced induction and ecu upgrades. They must cover them under certain circumstances. Maybe its a combination of the car value, mods and drivers age?

yep - I've just called around:

27 Rating 1 NSW.

AAMI - 3.5K - 3.9K with mods

BUZZ - No engine mods - $2K

Shannons - Mods Inc - $2.8K

JCI - Mods Inc - 2.3K

Any others I should consider? JCI looking the best atm.
