what kind of windshield washer fluid do you use?

There are a variety of different brands on the market, some with teflon, others with detergents, some with de-icers, what do you use? do you even have a preference? Or don't give a shit and use whatever is on sale?

Also does anyone know what BMW dealers use? It appears to be a clear and have no color, i"ve noticed that it also has a very strong ammonia( alcohol scent). Any ideas?

To be honest ....Blue stuff...

But i do add that BMW stuff you speak of.. it is BMW's Concentrated de-icer washer fluid.. its intension is to add 1 bottle of that stuff to commercially available stuff. ( blue bug juice) The BMW stuff is expensive for the little bottle, but lets just say i have unlimited supply..

Note on BMW stuff.. It smells when sucked in thru the vents.. it goes away in a momentor too, but sensitive peolple should be aware..

as a side note.. I have NEVER frozen a washer bottle in my life living in the Burrrrrrrr Cold North east... although it does happen.

A 60% / 40% mix of methanol and distilled water. It's basically what most windshield washer fluids are anyway. The methanol mixture, though, is primarily for performance.

Personally, I tend to almost never use the sprays.

Any of the Blue stuff has always been fine for my over 40 years of driving... as long as it says it is an antifreeze protection type of fluid.

Always use the Rain-X seasonal stuff, although any of the blue stuff works just as well.

The Blue bottles sold at most stores and gas stations. Live in Chicago and never had a problem, except one time when it was -26 and strong winds.

Never had a problem in Chicago with the regular blue de-icer fluid that you buy at the gas station, at least for the 128i but it is a different story in my wife's Mazda CX9 (that has no heated nozzles) , had the rear washer forzen as soon temperature was going under 20°F

Is this a serious question?? Honestly, it's topics like this that the people who complain (not me until now) about and say this forum isn't like it used to be.....

I remember the good old days in Summer 2008 when people actually posted useful and interesting stuff.
sniff.....sniff

Rain X orange.
It puts a nice coating on the glass so I almost never use the wipers when it's raining and I'm moving above 40mph, rain just runs off the window.
It works even in the mind numbing cold we get in the Chicago area at times.

Check out 1Z Kristall Klar. I received a free sample from Phil at Detailer's Domain a whole back and it's amazing.

BMW Branded Windshield Washer Fluid

Hello...I know this post is pretty old but thought I'd chime in because I researched replacement windshield wiper fluid for my own 128i Convertible. Yes, BMW sells their branded version of windshield washer fluid for $3.98. Yes, you do need to premix it, as theirs is a concentrate. For California specifications in my area, you mix 4 oz. to 1-gallon of water. Voila! AND if you do the math, it's only a whopping .99 cents per serving. I'll get 4 refills in one bottle. It's cheaper than the store bought stuff. The bottle is 16.9 oz and is available at your local BMW dealer -- mine is Shelly BMW of Buena Park. I'd much rather use BMW OEM products whenever available over the stuff at your local parts store. Cheers and hope this helps!

i use what ever i can find that is cheap but then i spend big money on this additive because i think it works better than rainx

http://www.dvelup.com/Cart/index.php...roducts_id=114

the only reason i dont use straight water is because it freezes.

In the winter, I use any washer fluid that is rated with a freezing point of -45°C or colder. In the summer, anything with a detergent to remove bugs more easily.
