My Valentine 1 was the best "mod" I have ever purchased. It saved my butt 3 times last weekend in the Hudson Valley. My first time on the Taconic, and boy was I driving fast!!
Ive had the same unit & remote display for 10 years now. I highly suggest getting one.

I am always SUPER apologetic when I get pulled over. I keep repeating. I am really sorry I was speeding. It's been a tough day. I should have been paying attention. It's been a sh*tty week. I am really sorry about this officer.
So far so good. |

Get a lawyer take it to court, I got pulled over by a state trooper in Upstate NY while passing someone at 100 mph in a 55 zone. He caught me at 95. It was lowered to 62 in court. Trust me you don't want the ticket on your record at your age.

BV, Welcome to the club. Mine was on Rt 17 between Bing and the Catskills.
Do you recall passing any one within a couple of miles before the cop? Sometimes they use spotters and singled you out. I have quite of few cop friends. They will check your plate 1 by 1 and pull you over for a bunch of reasons, like the euro rich kid car, sometimes personal reasons to sharpen their dick skills. In my case it was a speed trap factory. Last edited by JB135MDCT; 10-28-2010 at 09:05 PM.. |

After I was pulled over while driving through the rest of Delaware county I saw at least 10 guys pulled over in 20 minutes. They were on some sort of witch hunt and I got nailed by the first cop so I had no warning. |

that sucks..... I know the pain very well. I don't even have a clue how many tickets i got with my WRX back in the day, but i was a young kid with a really really modified car.
funny thing is, I can't count the tickets, but i never lost any demerit points, which just proves they all pulled me over because i was a kid and stuck me with whatever they could. My favorite was being pulled over by a lady cop. (lady cops are guaranteed tickets) but when she walked up to my car, she saw a bunch of envelopes on the passenger seat. "what are those?" I say, "resumes, i'm headed into town to hand them out" she goes, "i guess i'll let you go, you probably need the money if you're looking for work" (i didn't tell her i already had a job) as for giving everyone a reason for doing big break conversions to your cars. i have 2 reasons... 1, see a motorcycle cop at the side of the road, I slam on the breaks, he yells to me "your breaks must be huge, cause i couldn't lock your speed! you're lucky!" 2, I still get pulled over but the cop says, you got lucky there, I saw you at 120km/h, but i locked your speed at 95km/h ( i was in an 80km/h zone) he ended up knocking the speed down a little because i made him laugh and feel comfortable. Moral of the story, Big break kits pay for themselves!!! |

Oregon sucks for tickets from what I have heard. Plus the speed limit is 55 mph. It is hard coming from Idaho where the speed limit is 75 mph then having to drop down to 55 mph in Oregon. It seems like you are sitting still at 55 mph.

Oregon rural freeways and highways are 65, wish they were higher, but they are not. Any time you approach a built up area, it will most likely go to 55, somtimes not even near a city, but for some other odd reason it will drop. The short of it, don't speed, won't get stopped. Further away from the posted limit you get, the greater the chance of getting pulled over. As for going with the flow, bull. Speeding is speeding, if everyone else goes and jumps off a bridge, are you?
I take great pleasure in cruising along at a prudgent speed knowing that if I step on it, I have all sorts of power available. And when I see a cop, I don't have to panic like eveyone else. |

The speed limit is supposed to be set by the 90 percentile of traffic flow. This means that if 90% of the people are going a certain speed that is what the legal speed limit is supposed to be.
Also try doing 55 when everybody around you is doing 80. They are moving faster than you which makes you a target. I don't like being the target of shitty people attempting to hit me so I match speed with traffic to make my drive safer :Ban Low Performance Drivers. Not High Performance Cars: |

I like that....
I try to be the second slowest one of the fastest moving group. it's always worked for me.... I'm still going 99% their speed, can see all their break lights when they see a cop (so i have time to apply mine) and the cop always goes right past me for the ones in front who he radar'd first. and if he's a dick cop, he'll get the guy behind me who is closest to him. |

Never said I drive in the fast lane, never said I drive slow. Driving at a prudent speed is different than driving slow. And the image that most people have of BMW owners, well I don't need to be a part of that image.

Last ticket I got the State Cop pulled his gun on me. Said I made a funny move when he was pulling me over... yea, I was putting my car in park. He claimed he'd been shot before and I said maybe he should consider another line of work. Then he gave me a ticket for 82 in 70. I didn't say a word... I just wanted to get the hell away from him and his itchy trigger finger. I considered writing a complaint letter to the Governor, then I figured they don't really care... they just want my money. I used to have great respect for the police... that day I lost quite a bit of it.
