Just hit 20,000k's.
thought i'd give some feed back about the 1er at 20,000 k's and some experiances.
Suspension isnt as tight now and a bit more forgiving. Still handles great. Engine is nice and loose. revs well. Tyres are about half way. cause of this is lots of highway k's. no rattles or squeaks. fuel consumption is 8.0 on a trip and about 11.5 around town. What I hate- cleaning bug marks off the front all the time. cleaning the bloody wheels. car park ding/s particually one large one (I am vvvery carefull where I park but they are inevitable) What I can live with is some times a pain- fuel tank needs about 10 more litres WRX's always want to race you (havent lost yet) heat thru the front window. being carfull where I park. watching the front for high gutters. What I love- fit 4 people in without being squashed. The looks and good comments I get. plenty of room for 2 sets of golf clubs + electric buggies + suit cases. goes and handles like stink. great full economy. when you clean it up it still loos like the day you bought it. Looks gooood! The price. Very solid car. Problems- Bloody front storage lid is hard to open. slight wind noise on drivers side window near my ear, needs a slight adjustment at service (7000k's to go) thats it. Pretty miner eh? I love the the car still and as a sports car it is so very versitile. lots of room, lots of go and lots of show. Recommend it to anyone. Some trivia for you all. Good as gold so far Andrew. I know what you mean and am very simpathetic in this area, not because of BMW's but have always been. In saying that my wife drives an X5 and we 'slide out and down' the seat for the last 5.5 years and its held up very well.

We might do that and will most likely stay over somewhere up there. Good chance to go out after and catch up!

My bottom side edge of the drivers seat in my old 4 year old 120i definitely has lost a good part of its stiffness. Therefore I'm extra careful with getting in and out of the 135i, although the long doors in car parks make it a little bit tricky.

Thanks for the review Yep. Agree with everything, particularly the bugs - too many of them in the country
Have you tried the Amorall Wheel Protectant stuff. It'll solve your problem - brilliant!

spent a couple of hours washing and polishing today... HATE bugs... and break dust... that good for products like Amorall Wheel Protectant ...
Chris - good review - our list of like and dislike would be much the same except for the on going rattles... that being said BMW have fixed them al under warrantee and I wish our fuel consumption was a good as yours |

nice write up. i've given a few wrx's and sti's a run and haven't been beaten yet either but they are still pretty quick. you need to be careful though because with a few $$$ they can be made really quick. i have a mate who has what looks like an 04-05 wrx and he dumped 8k into it and he can run into the low 11's. i still haven't had the opportunity to give him a run but it will happen very shortly. most suprising thing is his wrx looks very sleeper, almost stock. only has some clean rims and a full exhaust.
on another point, your fuel economy looks great. i've only managed 2600km's but i'm averaging 6.5l/100km which means i'm filling up every second day or so. very furstrating and very costly. i agree with you on the 4 seats being fairly comfortable. i had 4 girls squeeze in on the weekend, no problems at all |

What I do is setting the driver seat all the way back and save as seat position memory no.2. so everytime when I get in or out the car, i put the seat into that position and so I get more space.

Hey Bob - suggest you start a dedicated thread for this -- and pick a date that suits you! I'll be in for it depending on how it fits with my calendar.

Better still, how about we have a drive day down in Canberra? Chris could show us all his favourite backroads ... Black Mountain, Cotter Rd, Brindabella Rd (until the dirt starts, then U-turn), Paddys River Rd, Tidbinbilla Rd, Tharwa, etc. How's that sound Mr Yep?
