Andy's fuel pump died a week after he put it back on the road. Odd.

im bone stock...and i suspect BJM is as well

regardless, the problem is most likely due to incompatible materials with american gas (avec ethanol) nothing to do with shiv or terry

Bone stock.

I have also heard that it's the ethanol in our gas but could it really have taken affect as quickly as it did (1600 miles?)

Dropped it off this morning. Tulley was great about it, I called them at 9am on a Saturday and they told me to bring it right up. Driving with reduced power is interesting, to say the least. In fact, I was accelerating onto the highway when the ECU cut the turbos. Very weird feeling.

Anyhow, Tulley gave me an '09 335xi. It's alright, at least it's a Bimmer loaner. It's verrry quick, and pretty good looking with the '09 updates, but the interior does absolutely nothing for me. I can honestly say I wouldn't trade my '08 CTS for it given the chance. Not to mention Cadillac doesn't have known fuel pump issues

That was quick. Especially for a Saturday. Did you learn anything about the failure mechanism?

Nice on the quick turn around! They're pretty good at Tulley.

Unfortunately when I picked the car up, the service people were gone so I couldn't ask any questions about it. I'm going to call him on monday and ask him if A: Was my car was built with the new fuel pump, and if so why would it fail so quickly when it's supposedly updated? And B: Did they just replace it with the same type fuel pump? If so, won't it be prone to failure again?

Their service today was the one bright spot of the situation.....they literally had it fixed and back in my hands in 4 hours.

all you have to know is when your car was produced. If it was produced after july 08 then you have the new generation.

That's the scary part........mine was built in mid December 08. This leads me to believe that people could continue to have issues with these

SA confirmed today that my car did have the updated HPFP, and he has seen the updated ones fail other than mine. He said it's much less less common with the new ones, but some are failing nonetheless. The good thing, he said, is that when the new ones fail the car still starts and can be driven without a problem, whereas the old ones sometimes would fail and the car wouldn't start at all.
