I wonder whether the Enthusiast version will clear all suspicious codes, re-set my JB3 V1.22 to stock mode, drive it for awhile before bringing my car in for warranty services. If this works, I wil be very interest in this product especially for $300. When warrranty expired, I will use this tool more if I want to work on my own car. Thanks for the finding.

With this new tool you can remove the tune/piggyback/chip and erase any detection codes that may have been thrown. |

Amsfoto wrote" "It's always a good idea to remove the JB3 before going into the dealer. Even with this tool to remove tampering codes you should never leave the unit in the ECU box...just a precaution in case they feel like doing a visual check."
Don't you think the servce technician will spend extra time to open up the ECU box to look for the piggy back? I don't know about BMW, but most dealer's technicians are paid by the job performed not paid by what they found unless they suspect the requested warranty work could be caused by an ECU mod or the tempered codes revealed what you had.

If you want to try out your theory then go ahead and leave your tune in there and let us know what happens when you go in for service. |

You never know what symptoms they're blaming on ECU mods these days though. There's been a technical note posted here that went out to all the techs noting lots of things that point to ECU tuning or piggybacks. Things like cruise control not working properly (DINAN tune causes that). If you've got a piggyback on the car and you're taking it in for engine related warranty work, you're asking for it if you don't remove it. It's hard to tell what kind of signals they'll see on the diagnostics equipment with something altering I/O from the ECU. |

Which version of this will clear the warranty codes? I only ask this as I see the Professional version supports the "Coding and Command console" while the enthusiast does not.

You are right, it is better to clear the codes and remove the piggy back before any warranty service, just for the peace of mind. It is better to spend the extra 15-30 minutes than sorry. Thanks.

The pro tool is the same as the enthusiast tool but the software is a different version which allows you to connect to as many VINs as you please. The Enthusiast only permits 3 VINs.

This is a great tool for deleting codes.
Had mine a week now, not really sure of the other benefits to me though?? Strangely, I have been stock for a week now, serviced on Friday, and starting to think I prefer stock to SSTT...

I was worried about this too, as I have an 09. However, this made me feel better: http://www.bavariantechnic.com/default.aspx
