What's the thickness on that piece of rubber? I can make one for $2.

I made my own clutch stop a few months ago and I LOVE it.
I posted a thread with picts. It was just a preliminary idea, but since then I found an easier way to do it.

My mod removes at least 1.25" of extra travel and shifts are much quicker and smoother. All you really need is a 1" rubber stop and a way to mount it to the back of the clutch pedal/lever.

Right around 1.25" is the limit in order for the clutch kill switch to disengage.

I don't have the CDV mod, but with the shorter pedal travel it seems to remove some of the CDV's influence on fluid flow, clutch take up is right off the floor, and it seems like very little CDV affect.
Overall shifts are quicker and smoother as you can get back into the throttle sooner, very nice mod imo.

I haven't seen this for sale piece yet. I'll go take a look at it.

I just saw it. That price is RIDICUlOUS, sorry, it is.
You can easily make your own. Also, I didn't notice a stock stop, but then I didn't remove all those parts. My stop is on my clutch pedal lever.
I'l have to take a closer look to see if the 1 has this stock stop.
Anyone do that stop and find the stock piece on the 1?

The added comfort of being able to sit back a bit more is a bonus. The biggest benefit though is the quicker and smoother shift you can achieve.

It does have the stock piece. The $20 piece has a metal bracket that you install in replacement of that stock rubber piece, and the new stop screws into that bracket. I also agree that the piece is way too expensive, maybe $10 shipped would be a fairer price, but how different is that from paying $20.00 for a CDV mod that you could do yourself for 7 bucks? Honestly it's a great mod that every 6MT owner should do, and if you can fabricate it yourself, more power to you.

I just wanted to spread the info out there, as this mod probably did more for my shift speeds than both the SSK and CDV mod, but it's a nice combination for sure. I might even uninstall the SSK and go stock to get rid of the notchy feeling.

I think I have been doing this with my foot manually. I never fulyl press the clutch pedal to the floor, just enough to pass "the point". But I guess this mod is more foolproof

Just installed mine and went for a short drive, it is pretty good. It is noticeably shorter than stock and the engagement point is now ~0.5" (guesstimate) from the "floor". I can sit a bit further back now and my right leg needs to bend less than normal. No grinds, but my car is warm, I'll see if it cause any problems tomorrow morning. Also the car starts just fine.

Is it worth $20+(CA tax)+shipping? well, it's up to you. I'm too lazy to go figure it out, so I just pay the price.

Just installed it. WOW, what a difference!

Great, cheap mod. Definitely worth it. Was able to move my seat back a bit. This is the way the car should have come in stock form.

Well, I got this awhile back and just got around to installing it. A few comments: good thing I was the only one home when it arrived, still somewhat miffed at the price and the shipping and handling. Both of these are on the high side. The good thing is that it did exactly what it was supposed to. The engagement point is just a few mm's of travel. No problem with synchros or grinding between gears. I only put this on today so haven't done a lot of shifts but have the feeling it should have used a harder rubber. Felt a little mushy with the clutch in.

I've been driving w/ the clutch stop for a bit over a week now, it is awesome! I can shift a bit faster, I think I can do even better if my shifter aren't so damn notchy (UUC SSK). So, I just got some Redline D4 ATF tranny oil, gonna ditch the stock oil and hope this will fix some of the notchiness I've with the shifter.

If its a chronic issue, you should take a trip to the dealer.

I don't think the UUC shifter causes grinding, at least mine doesn't. if you did a CDV you might not have bleeded the clutch enough to get rid of all the bubbles.
If you grind from time to time, I'd try bleeding the clutch correctly (using the power bleeder or something) and make sure you've all the bubbles out before you do the clutch stop. I mean, if you floor the clutch and it still grind, a clutch stop might make it worst...
