Has anyone ever gotten caught in this situation with a BT?
I have a hypothetical question.
Person X installs a JB3 on his 135, the car throws a code. Person X clears the code with the Bavarian scan tool. Person X then removes the JB3 and takes the car into the dealership for work, whether it be oil, or some other maintenance. the dealership finds an error code that is linked back to the JB3, DESPITE the BT clearing codes. Is the BT so effective, that once a car returns to stock, it actually makes the cars computer think it has rolled off the assembly line, i.e bone stock? Can we trust the BT that after any computer mod, whether it be SSTT, JB3 etc.. that when used right it will keep those 'chips' indetectable. I am curious if anyone has been in the situation that they have used the BT after removing computer mods and still got caught. Thanks |

Make sure you clear the codes after the JB3 is removed not before. If done the right way, dealers should not know at all.

I trust the BT scanner and its ability to clear codes |

God I can't even imagine how mad I would be buying a used 1'er taking it in bone stock and the dealer denying warrenty bc of a code thrown from the orignal owners mods...

always RE-scan after "clearing" the codes. I have (thought) the codes were clear but after re-scanning, they were still there. May take several "clears" to actually take???

Check your screen when you look up the fault codes. If you expand certain modules on the left you will see that there are faults and shadow faults. Both must be cleared from what I heard. You can see what I mean below when you look at this image that I pulled from BT's website.
Here is the link to their website as well: http://www.bavariantechnic.com/faultcodes.aspx |

Another question I had was, lets say you remove your chip from the car and return the car to stock. Has anyone had the car just not function properly after the chip was removed and codes cleared? Have they had any codes show up after bringing the car back to virgin? Thanks, |
