Oh yeah, and BMW definitely doesn't warrant a car that has been used on the track. Ask me how I know haha.
Wayne, I stand corrected about Porsche in Australia. Makes a lot more sense.

That raises an interesting question. What if your engine goes pop while driving on the highway, however, BMW know you've taken it on the track previously?

Check the mpower.com site. They are offering racing brake linings as an accessory. Looks like condoning track and or competition use to me.

What they don't know, won't kill them. Doubt they'd know if it's only a track day here or there.

no fear on track guys.

Been there done that so many years never seen mechanic issue except you are dumb and driving a Ferrari.

Or being a Wayne.

No problem will happen on the track, until you take yourself too seriously like getting a PB or beating each others time.

if bmw did deny warranty to someone with a performance car like a 1m, m3 z4 or 135i cos of alleged or confirmed track use, i don't mean like racing the car in competition but just the odd track day, and word of this flooded the interwebs and was written up in magazines thier sales of m3's and the like would plummet. they would definately strike a deal if pushed towards negetive publicity or the courts... especially the courts if a judge ruled the warranty was not valid and it made car magazine headlines the m3 would become extinct in australia.

anyway i'm just gunna take Taka's advice

Hahaha should I search for the video where you clip the wall on your track car? I've spun once at Philip Island, once at Sandown, once at Broadford, and once at Lang Lang (and unfortunately hit the pole). Now, considering I have done hundreds of laps on different tracks in different conditions, that isn't so bad! Hey talking about different conditions, remember the private track day we did at Winton? I loved it! Where is that picture of the crustacean when I need it...

I 'might' track the car anyway. However, as far as I know, majority of M3s never see a day on the track and some don't even get driven hard. My parent's real estate agent has had is E92 for about a year now and didn't know what the M button was and decided it wasn't safe.

I use my M button often, especially in tunnels and underpasses, helps with the aural effect. However it is not good on some of the rough Aus roads at low speeds, especially with 25 series tyres like mine, tends to get somewhat rough
