Almost ready to make the leap...Help!

Hi Everyone, I've doing alot of car shopping as of late (particularly the 08 Sti and Evo) but I'm ready to settle on the One. This will be my first BMW so I have a few questions.
I'm willing to pay MSRP, but I also want to make sure that I'm getting the best deal possible (If it makes a difference, I live in California) Also, how much is the deposit and is it refundable if something doesn't go as planned?
Basically to seal the deal I want a good trade-in value on my 06 350z Roadster (at least 25-26k?). But I'm guessing they won't appraise it till the day I trade it in, which obviously will be the day my car gets delivered. So I'm a little stumped on how I should approach the dealership.
Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions will be appreciated!

here you go.. If you get it appraised now there are two ways to look at it.. either a pre-trade where they give you what its worth now and you give them the car or the give you a rough idea of its value in the short time the car will arrive.. IMO i would just order the car and when it arrives have it appraised as it a convert and will be worth a little more when you have it done closer to spring..

deposit should be like $500-$1000 and if you use the search feature you'll get a good idea of what people are paying.. but if it helps.. its between.. Full list and $800 off.. some where in there is a good deal.. even full list in some places will be a great deal as the demand may exceed availabilty.. Good luck..

its gonna be tough to get any deals really. If you are getting a car from the first few batches, then MSRP it will be. Make sure you talk to an educated sales associate too

I got them (the dealer) to appraise my car and sign off on the agreed amount on my order form. Basically the offer for my trade was good till the end of march. So they have to honor the price assuming the car is in near to exact conidtion it was in when they saw it. Which it should be since i only drive 20miles a day.

I paid MSRP..i didnt even have to haggle - said thats what they are charging for the car and werent going to jack any prices up. They honored the built out price off BMWUSA. I was a little upset that they didn't tell me about priority one options and I had find out here

They wanted 1000 dollar deposit and said it wasn't refundable b/c these car are ordered custom. I wasn't too happy with that since its a car i've never seen or been able to sit in first hand. So we agreed to 500 refundable.

hope that helps.

I put $1000 down and the dealer said it was fully refundable (as they would have no troubles selling the car as long as it didn't come back PINK or something like that .. lol) ..

Sell it privately IMO.

And FYI, if you decide to trade in, and they won't appraise until delivery, ALL desposits are refundable until you drive your new car off the lot, despite what the dealer may tell you.
