I have been having the long crank for a few months and mentioned it to my dealer when I booked it in for a regular service last week (I knew it was the FP).
Got a call that afternoon, new pump but don't worry we've contacted BMWAU to get them to cover the cost of the pump (I am 1.5yrs out of warranty).
The list price on the pump was ~$900 or so though.. ridiculous!.
Pretty good service though.

Do you have a pretty good relationship with that dealer? I was basically told to not even bother asking.. great to hear they are replacing it for you though!

Does anyone know if oil leak could be related to HPFP failing?

I have some oil leak under the car just behind the front to wheels.

nope, no oil in the HPFP

the oil leak in ours was pouring out the back of the engine, but was coming from the oil filter housing gasket. it seems to flow back there rapidly.

otherwise sump gasket or rear main most likely.

oil filter housing gasket or rocker cover &/or gasket (the rocker covers are plastic and can crack leading to oil leaks)
