Five days, 90 miles! You better slow down!! At that rate you'll reach the break-in point near years end.

Just kidding. I don't know how you have the ability to not drive that thing 40-50 miles a day. I won't get my car for 3+ months and I've already driven it 1500 miles... in my head.

LOL, with all the twisty rural roads in my area my hot rod should be broken-in within a week post delivery.

18 days 630 miles....loving every minute...should be able to do about another 200 miles this weekend....getting closer. To be honest though in this car i am not as worried to break it in fast just because it is such a joy to drive before you get to 4500rpm

i'm ignoring the break-in advice ... just driving it like normal with occasional flogging.

Joel that is very low mate....i have done quite alot of motorway driving but mine is 26.1mpg and i have done 630 miles.

With regards to break in i think you can do what you like as i spoke to my sales guy at BMW yesterday and he said you could rund your car how you like right from the start and to be honest he said he was not that bad for it to run it hard....it can even be better on the breaks etc to break quite hard

7 days, 380 happy miles. 18mpg on average so far. So far, I can't keep myself from blipping the throttle, just to listen to the exhaust note and to feel the acceleration.

Okay _more_ than occasional flogging. But yes I know it's low. It has primarily been city driving and blipping the throttle between traffic lights. Not really conducive to great efficiency. I expect the mpg avg will drift upwards as I get over the thrill of playing with the acceleration every drive.

Excellent thread!!

picked up at 1805 3/15/2008 and 1.4 miles on the ODO

I have used every excuse to take longer trips with it in addition to taking my track wheels to Radial Tire, another trip into the DC beltway for dinner and daily commute. Including three trips around the suspension loop. When I get a chance I will put the camera in the car and drive the loop. BTW -- will never drive this loop hard, potential bicycles, blind curves, Amish buggies, tertiary roads... Not much traffic though.

This weekend, PCA tech at a shop inside the beltway, at least another 170 miles and the trackster is in the shop.

today - 3/28 early =
12.5 days and 603 miles

I plotted this out in Excel and based on planned trips and past performance, I should be at 1134 miles by the time I get to Summit Point on the 4th of April. Since I do not have track insurance yet, I will probably only being instructing. Then again, maybe not? Still on temporary tags by that time.

Lots of loops thru the countryside.
Example: I needed to go to the Food Store to pick up some stuff. The food store is 6 miles from my house. I took the long way...down to the expressway, on to a nice winding back road, up to Pennsylvania where the road ended then different back roads back to the food store.....75 miles later I was at the store buying what I needed....then 6 more miles to get home...
