packerman,

Welcome to 1Addicts.

Glad to hear it was nothing serious. Now get a tune on that sucker.

I had JB3 on my N54 and it was a monster, easily keeping up with my friends E60 M5.

The factory kit gives +25 bhp/30 lbft torque, so not very popular.

JB3 (now JB4) offers +80 whp/wtq straight out of the box on an N54 135i. I believe JB also offer a similar upgrade for the N55, but the gains are more modest 50-60 whp/TQ:

Where in the country are you Packerman? If you're anywhere near Evolve, recommended...

jamier27,

First off, welcome to 1Addicts.

WRT the M5 - Absolutely, he could not get away! I was on my own, the M5 had a passenger. He saw me and was ahead I just heard him change down and rev the car and I was on it. I stopped his pull immediately then we were pretty much dead even up to 140. I bottled out after that, but he kept on - silly bugger.

I'm really amazed with the JB3. I do miss full throttle in 1-2 gears, which is next to useless as traction starts to get limiting @ 400 BHP with only rear-wheel drive.

If you get a 135i, they are great cars & real sleepers. No one really expects a little 1 series to be so quick (even stock).

I have a TTRS now with 415 bhp/450 lbft TQ, and that is even quicker IMO, probably due to less weight and 4WD.

Cheers,

Mad.

What HP does just a JB4 give you and how much does it cost?

dxb335d,

On older twin turbo N54 engined cars, map 5/7 gives 80-100 bhp/100 lbft TQ at the crank.

Later TwinPower single turbo N55 engined cars get similar or slightly less on the stage 2 JB4.

All this is on a stock car running 98 octane fuel (93 US).

For more info on pricing see:
