I just remembered:
When I turned in my car at LogInOut at the Munich Airport on 5/25 I met a couple from Chicago turning in an M3 that were also on our flight. She told me she worked for BMW and gave me a card which showed her title as "Accessories Sales manager, Central Region" for BMW NA in Schaumburg, IL. She mentioned that some new performance product would be coming out "in a couple of months". This must be it and probably has nothing to do with an existing BMW Performance product. I'm going to e-mail her for some details and hopefully she'll reply tomorrow morning.

I just heard from my dealer as I had placed a deposit for the software only upgrade. We have been waiting a week or two now and here is what he just received from BMW:
"The Stage 1 Power Kit (software only) will be available in mid-August. Note: A special introductory price will be offered for the Stage 1 kit when it first becomes available. Keep an eye out for an Aftersales bulletin within the next week or two announcing pricing details." When I hear more, I'll let others know. |

A fair question on pricing. See attached link that was posted on June 16...

Although I think we all suspected that the retro-fit was going to be more than the $550 figure in for the option when new in the OP, I was (perhaps foolishly) hoping for something a little cheaper than this. I have a couple questions: Why does the manual get a lower bump in tourque (is there a concern that it can't handle the added oomph of 32 more lb ft)? Also, I'd be interested in hearing from people with a 335is or the original BMW Performance Power Kit about what the gains really feel like. By my math this is only ~7% bump in power. Can you really feel a difference? |

We get wildly bent over in Canada so even though the currency exchange is relatively flat I'd guess our pricing will be at minimum 20% premium over US pricing.

The retrofit kit will also work for 135i.

I posted the following elsewhere on the forum:
I just had the Power Kit installed on my 2012 135i and it was closer to $3k. I am happy with the result, which I am guessing is close to the same output as the 1M but no M3 suspension, brakes, LSD, and cool gearbox/clutch/flywheel which really matter as well as the neat cosmetic and interior bits that are fun. I still have a fun and to me a good value car though as you can see I am a more loyal BMW owner than most. Best, GJ The total parts was $1,988.34/tax 164.05 and labor was $810 for a total of $2,962.39 or $148.12 per horsepower. On the face of it this seems like a rip but I really like it and for $478 per month plus tax it is a great car, whats another $83 per month for a bunch of grins when I drive it. Plus no worries about warranty, screwing up the lease, etc. The increase in power feels like allot more than what it advertised so I would do it again in a heartbeat. Cheers, GJ

I would definitely be in on this as long as I dont have to sell a kidney to be able to afford it. I already have the black kidney grills though.

Your photo looks exactly like my car except with my new found power I might just be seeing it in my rear view mirror. The extra power is a real kick in the pants. I've got to spoil myself on a few things. - GJ
