Did they replace anything the first time? ie. Transmission pan?

They replaced a seal and I guess they did it wrong and now it's leaking again.

You may get it covered under "parts warranty" I guess it depends on how long it has been. I would also mention to them that there is a bulletin that when they replace the seal, they have to replace the pan as well.

You could make them aware of that and see if they will cover it.

Got the car back last night. New transmission feels better than the old one ever did. I also have the PPK1 installed. Feels more responsive and the shifts also feel smoother. Still very fast but not as rough as before. So far so good, but that might just be that the adaptations are still fresh.

I have to say it feels like BMW underrates the PPK. There is deff some decent improvement in the "pull" factor above 3500 rpm.

Or use it correctly. If you can talk to the service manger and make sure the Master / senior technician is working on your car that the best you can hope for

Just got the car back.. They said the leak is so slow they are not sure where it's coming from. Told me to drive it for a couple weeks and bring it back in.

New DCT is going strong, no leakage or shifting issues yet.

Mine went in for final 4/50k inspection and maintenance and found trans leak. They replaced the bottom and side gaskets. Took them a couple days to get the parts.

So do they really need to drop the trans to change out gaskets? With the issues I've had with the DCT lag in the past, it has me concerned about durability.

The side gasket, yes. The bottom pan no. They ended up replacing mine due to a "suspected hairline crack" in the case. Keep an eye on it over the next few weeks. Mine was leaking like crazy and after a week, I had visible oil the plastic right under the DCT. They tried to re-seal it 4 times before they threw in the towel.

Now that they have done one fix, you should have a parts warranty at least.

Steve.

I feel all of your pain, just found out mine was leaking from the pan and side. Pretty nice out of pocket expense since they have to drop the trans.

Keep on them, you should be able to get some assistance. There are bulletins about this per my SA.

This is clearly a defect in the DCT design. I just had my side and lower trans pans seals done. The lower pan is one unit so that's all new.

Gonna keep a close eye on this every 6 months.
