Actually I thought the Diesel S was the best of the lot around town. I went in to order a Turbo and came out ordering the diesel! The turbo is quick if you have an open road to rev it out, but around town the diesel is aftually faster. I had some in gear stats to back what I am saying too but I dont know where it is now. The diesel is also more refined which surprised the crap out of me.

Btw I'm a diesel hater after owning a x3 30d for a short time. I sold it because neither my wife nor I could handle the lag in throttle response. But the Macan was completely different! I also spent a whole day test driving all three, so it wasn't a around the block job.

Was this the 8AT, Wayne? I have a mate with the current X3 3.0d, and it is great off the line. I assume the X4 is probably the same. I'd put this down to the 8 sp ZF auto as much as anything else.

It was the first of the pre facelift X3 30D. I'm pretty sure it was the 8 speed.

Push to the sport mode and the lag was minimise. However, it then holds the rev too high for a car like this.

Also, I never really got the mileage as claimed. The 5er was going to be its replacement, but my wife saw the Macan the first time yesterday and I think now she is claiming it. Apparently what mine is her hers, and what hers is hers.

If this is a true indication of the final M2 render, I will be cancelling my Macan order and just wait for this baby to trade into..
