pg - There was discussion of having a Triangle area 1 meet, but it kind of fizzled out during the cold months. I'm hoping the interest picks up once it gets warmer. I came from the Evo world so I know a lot of those guys so I can make it a larger joint meet if there's any interest in that as well. I think I've only actually seen 1 other 1 around. I've got an AW, matte black CSL reps, lowered if you see me around

I think that's the case. I would be interested, assuming the weather cooperates and I can fit it in my schedule, although weekdays work better for me than weekends, but I realize it's the opposite for most folks. Trali Irish Pub at Brier Creek would be a convenient location between Durham, Raleigh & CH for a meet, and their food isn't bad at all.

There are actually quite a few one series cars in Raleigh. I had the first one series in Raleigh. My son is a professional driver who test drives for BMW and turned me on early. Mine is a cashmere silver convertible. I would love to have a meet up.

I had a sneaking suspicion that was you.. Yes, that yellow 1 was mine... Unfortunately I live on a dirt road with no garage, surrounded by pollinating trees.. Not a whole lot I can do about keeping it clean right now. However, I did just detail it - you would be proud. Looked brand-spanking-new for about 24 hours.

Yes, it's tough, apparently a record year for pollen too. I saw another black 1-er (a convertible) around town, couldn't tell if it was a 135 or 128.

How many miles do you have on yours? I just turned 1200+ on mine this weekend.

It just seems the weather is just to nice to ignore (especially considering it'll be 90º F before long). I know everyone isn't free for lunch, but it seems there are a few 1-ers in this area who do have some free lunch time.

For anyone not familiar with it, the Triangle Porsche/Exotic/Corvette clubs have a monthly car meet/"show" in Brier Creek on the first Saturday of every month. It is usually a very good turnout with a lot of different kinds of high end cars. They park next to Caribou Coffee in the parking lot on that side of the street. Typically this meet is open for anyone to attend and park with them, but I overheard one of them saying at the last one that May's Triangle Exotics car show would be a charity event and they're actually going to tape off that area and charge people to park on that side of the street if they want to be in the "show". So, I think we'll need to park on the Barnes and Noble side of the street instead. It will be good if everyone can try to get there around 9:30 so we can park together and try to avoid door dings lol We can then leave from the show as soon as everyone is hungry and go over to Wild Wings or Ale House in Brier Creek to grab some lunch. Feel free to PM/email me with any questions!

Annual Charity Concours for Duke Children's Hospital
On Saturday, May 1, 2010, Hurricane Region will again host our annual Charity Concours to raise money for Duke Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network. Cars will start arriving at 8:00 AM to the parking area bordered by the old Camille’s Restaurant and Mason’s Chophouse (formerly Uno’s) at Brier Creek Commons off of US 70 and Brier Creek Parkway in Raleigh. Cars should be parked by 10:00 AM, when we will open the roped off area to the public for viewing the cars, till 1:00 PM. There will be goodie bags, door prizes, trophies and a raffle. The big raffle item this year is a closed practice session this fall for the winner and a guest, with Coach K and the Duke men’s basketball team, followed by dinner and a question and answer session, with a signed basketball and various other souvenirs of the day. We will be joined by the Triangle Italians Car Club as well as the other enthusiast clubs who typically join us at Brier Creek the first Saturday of each month. The cost is $20.00 per car, with all proceeds, less expenses, going to the Charity (the club does not make any money from this event).



For those who are not familiar with this event, please do not let the term “Concours” dissuade you from participating. This is basically a “shine-and-show” event, where the participants are the judges (that way you can guarantee your car gets at least one first place vote!). We won’t have judges inspecting the cars with white gloves for originality and matching numbers. So please make plans now to join us on May 1 for a great morning with fellow car enthusiasts and a chance to help a very worthwhile charity.
