Some HDR Shots

Figure I'd get creative at least while I wait in agony.

Here's some images I compiled in HDR

Excerpt from the wiki

high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of exposures (the range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

How'd you do it without having your own exposed pictures?

My friend loves doing HDR, i'll probably have some HDR pictures of mine up soon, after i get some wheels.

I used a photomatix plug in for photoshop

I figured I could have adjusted the images and saved a bunch with different lighting conditions, but this is easier

Good grief, I just realized that the painter Henri Rousseau was waaay ahead of his time, and in analog paint-brush-on-canvas mode. Is there nothing new under the sun?

Most HDRs are of landscapes, and really cool looking clouds/skys...an HDR of a car would look great with this type of background. I think the best results like cozza's are when you take your own pictures with different exposures

Thanks guys. I used Photomatix for only one of the 4 images. The rest were done by altering various curves and levels of 3 overlapped images in Photoshop - a somewhat lenghty process.

a real HDR imagine is one where you take multiple shots of the same scene at various exposure levels, then use the program to superimpose them all so you get the full range of colors

^There's a little more to it than that, but essentially, you're right. I used the auto exposure bracketing function on my Canon 40D for a couple of these shots, but also tried adjusting the exposure levels manually.

The picture from my thread was an HDR already.

mzaiderman...

i thought you were going for that edgy, sketch look. Most of those pictures that you worked on are already properly exposed. I think my photographer friend who compiled the HDR pic uses photomatix.

HDR photography is amazing. I've tried HDR (photomatrix and photoshop) as well. Multiple exposures from the camera produce better results that generating them in post. Either way I SUCK.

But check out this guy Herman. His auto examples rock, and are some of the best I've seen so far.

spicv,

I thought that was already HDR. I like the subtle HDR effects. They sometimes look like renderings.
