Cop Control?

I recently had a dealer print up a ASAP form for my car. The form lists every option that your car was built with. Useful for those members who aren't sure what options they have on their car, e.g. Active Steering.

One option peeked my curiosity. No. 8SP- Cop Control. Does anyone know what this is?

It is a very little known feature that must be used judiciously, originally a GM invention I think. (Check the link)

Wow I would love that - unfortunately we can't reason with or bribe speending cameras, but I am sure trunkmonkey could fix a camera!

Very funny guys

COP control is for the ignition

It stands for "coil on plug", ie the ignition coil is placed ontop of the spark plug

As for our traffic cops, its a sad truth, many of them dont even have a high school deploma, so the love bribes. Our Police and traffic officials are 2 different things here, police have nothing to do with traffic offences here.

You're right there. The problem is: Can trunk monkey dive out of my car doing 196km/h+ (damn that R20 000 fine*) and "sort out" the camera...and then catch back upto me so that I can use it again?

*The fine of R20 000 was not mine, it was a 19yr old student from pretoria who was caught doing 196km/h in his mothers 320d

Oh well, break it to us like that then... this fantastic feature is really rather pedestrian

What's the threshold of those things regarding being a smidge over the limit? About half of the red light cameras where I live also do double duty for speed control, but you have to be going over 15 mph over for them to even flash for speeding.

There has been a number of stories (not around here though) of small cities installing those cameras and then shortening the yellow on the light to the point where even if you were doing the speedlimit there was not way you could safely stop with out going through a red light. They did this "because they needed the money".. Isn't the government great here!!

I'm still in college... graduating in about 5 months, actually. I have been a Transit Bus operator for my school for the past 5 years, and have seen many a fellow driver get nailed by a few of the lights around campus. There are 3 lights that are notorious for doing this to drivers... thank God I haven't been one yet. There is one that is so jumpy, that at 35 mph (the posted limit there), if you are a little more than 1 bus length from the light, you will get flashed. I've thrown standee passengers down before to avoid it... it's quite ridiculous.
