how to know clutch "ran out"
i am not a pro when it comes driving a manual and infact 1M is the car where i drive manual the most, but i was wondering when will i know the clutch ran out..
because sometimes during acceleration that i had to release the gas, i will automatically hit the clutch (somehow) .. and hold it untill i press the gas again.. so basically my brain is telling to always press on of either, gas or clutch car had 2900 km , thanks.

Well, you are half way to a relatively easy feature of manual transmissions called "double clutching". I do it all the time, also - without thinking. Basically, when shifting, say from first to second - shift into neutral, then let the clutch out (with the gas pedal off). Then press the clutch in, while pressing the gas pedal just enough to let the revs of the engine increase to where it will be when you shift into second gear. Then shift into second. At this point, your shift is smooth because the engine revs match the transmission for the speed you are travelling, When you do this enough - it will come naturally - and you don't even have to think about it. You just get a 'feel'.
Good luck and always have fun with your car! Manual transmissions rock! |

Huh? You don't double clutch on upshift. If you're driving an old Porsche you may need to on downshift. No need to ever double clutch our car though. Just blip the throttle to match revs at downshift.

It's a synchromeshed gearbox, only at downshifting @ fast/spirited driving/high revs you might need to 'heel and toe' /use the clutch carefully to not lock the rearwheels(shiftlock)
At normal driving and even drifting I almost don't use the clutchpedal like the OP does. Only @ almost standstill 10 mph or someting like that. And that's not even necessary. The car won't stall @ walking speeds normally in 1st/2nd. Cheers Robin |

clutch? what's that? I thought we had a gated SMG. Isn't the thing on the left a foot trampoline?
