Anyone get a BMW extended warranty?
Anyone get BMW Ultimate Protection?
Any experience with repairs using the warranty? Anyone get a better price than the "msrp" of the warranty initially quoted? I like having a long warranty. Was thinking about 7/70 'Gold' since I tend to keep my cars for 7 years and low miles. Not too comfortable with 4 years. The extra 3 years of coverage could come in handy, and keep my mind at ease. Info on BMW Ultimate Protection: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...rotection.aspx Thanks! Last edited by mike12; 06-05-2011 at 09:07 PM.. |

I had it on my CPO 2004 X3. Covered up to 100k. Came in handy when the valve cover gasket and the throttle flutter valve both failed before the expiration. With these repairs covered the extended warranty more than paid for itself. No hassles with either repair.
Really depends on how many miles you'll put on the car. Still driving it now with 140k on it. Minor repairs since. Good car! |

I was real happy to find out that the guy who bought the car originally got the extended warranty. Unexpected bonus!

I got a certified used 2008 128i convertible with an extended warranty last year and love it. I get 4 years of full warranty or 100k miles. So far they've fixed the AC, the PCU, the brakelight bulb assembly, a cable in the top that made one of the covers not retract back, and minor stuff like fluids and license plate mounts.
I did have my under-hood cover and some plastic shields rip off on the bottom, and it cost me $500 (for some plastic! o.O). They said it looked like it hit something that caused damage. My stupid neighbor kept hitting my bumpers as he parked in the driveway, so I'm not sure if it was that or me running over stuff (roadkill, leftover truck tire in the highway). Now I have invested in a garage space and that jerk neighbor has moved away. Anyway, I'm still happy with it! The dealership by me also always has free wifi, bagels and cappuccinos. Yum! |

J, I like your BMW dealership. Mine just has coffee/tea and bad cookies.
Warranty is nice health insurance for your car. With such high prices it is a safe way to go. |

It's been debated on other threads if the extended warranty is worth the cost. I personally didn't get it, but then peace of mind is hard to put a price tag on, so do what you think is best.

I wish I could have gotten it but as soon as you put on Dinan, extended warranty status is thrown out the door. =(
