i want to have paddles so that i can access gear selection, but keep those pesky sports seats that are universally loved OUT of my car...
I don't understand... $1000 too much or something? I am paying JUST for the awesome seats! |

But what about those of us who don't (EGAD!) want/can't afford the sport package on their cars ?? I'm being dead serious...I'd prefer the paddles for allowing me to drop gears easier than clicking the auto shiffter when im passing on the highway, but I dont need the sport suspension or sport seats . Im also buying a 128i if that makes any difference in your broad judgements on my purchasing decision

i'd get the sport pack without a doubt (esp on the 128) and i think its def worth the money but good for you for sticking to what your priorities. low ballin! dont let these bullies get to you. unfortunately the bmw option bullies have you by the balls, so it seems. |

You can get them in the 135, I dont remember the option number but it is only $100.
And I agree with you, the sport seats suck.

Pink,
I'm curious, did your CA say that it was not possible, or are you just going by what the online configurator is saying? I wonder if the CA can put just the option code for the paddles manually into the order system? |

Another option...

If you're on a budget and want to shift/hold your own gears, you should get a manual! It's cheaper and allows you perfect control with out those pesky paddle shifters. My ideal 128 has sports, xenons, stereo, ipod, and sparkling graphite, all for ~$33K. |

I'm sure someone will come out with a paddle retrofit kit.

Getting the paddles also looks like it gets you the yummy fat M Sport steering wheel on the 128i. Anybody take delivery of a 128i step/sport/paddle yet to verify that the BMWUSA site is correct?
If that is truly the case, then they are doing it so that they don't dilute the sports package by allowing that great M Sport steering wheel on no sport package cars. |

But since many BMW drivers go through 2 sets of rear tires for each set of fronts, rotation isn't really a big issue. Also, the SP lists for $1,000 on the 135i and $1,200 on the 128i. Is there a NJ surcharge? Tom |

It's definitely a different wheel than the non-ZSP but it sadly is not the 135i ZSP wheel |

good to know. I made a mistake, it is $1,200 don't mind me. Maybe I will go for it anyways...I guess I could do a trade-off of metallic paint and auto tranny for the sport package and 6 spd |

But you have to look at your argument logically! Your buying an automatic, you do NOT need to shift anything, it's automatic. If you ant to get "sportier" and manu-shift yourself, then you indeed pursuing more performance. If you cannot afford, dump the auto and get a stick with the sport pack. Then you can shift all the gears you want! |
