Filled up this morning.. 41.44 litres/ for 377km driven..
Equates to 10.99 litres per 100 km... NOT 11.8..

there's a way you can adjust that in the hidden menu items in the config menu. don't remember the exact details, and it's NOT intuitive, but it can be done.

When was the last time you reset it? If it hasn't been done in a while then the average would still be correct as a slight increase in the right foot would change it if the average is calculated over a long time.

I am just going to be crazy on the accellerator this week to see what I can get it up to, I find it odd that some guys have such high numbers!

Well my plan so far hasn't worked... Reset the meter this arvo and on the way home with a heavy foot, changing gears about 1k-1.5k RPM higher than usual. 8.8L/100km... Rarely using 6th gear but most of it was on 80km/hr roads.

I need to work harder!

Holy crud. Some of you guys must only use the first three gears. I tried to get consumption figures up around the 17+ and can't do it. The worst I could do was mid-12's. But everyday driving with stop/start and a bit of highway, I'm getting about 10.7.

Yeah I'm not sure how you can get 15+ unless you drive in 95% city stop/start but only going in first few gears, changing at 5k rpm... or you have a fuel leak :-p

I do 95% city stop start driving, but no matter how hard I try with early up shifting etc, I can't get below 14. just checked my garage floor and it is dry!

I know I'm cheating but I'm amazed at the efficiency of my 123d in combined cycle driving. Currently it is pegged at 5.5L/100km and I've completed 1800km on 2.25 tanks. It even fell as low as 5.2L/100km on a trip to Canberra!

I hear ya, although since I've had my 123d for 18 months now I've been pushing it a lot harder. Averaging around 6.5l/100km now. But I drive to work at 180kph so that's not too bad...

On my recent round trip Brisbane-Bowral, I averaged 6.9L/100km in my 125i. I was severely constrained by speed cameras and traffic patrols, so it was definitely cruise control for most of the way. I set my cruise control according to the GPS, which I figured was going to be more accurate than the speedo, which reads 2 - 4km/h faster. My car has over 10,000km on the clock, so it is fairly well run in now.

Driving style and traffic conditions are the two most important criteria for fuel consumption, given that the vehicle is properly run in and the thing is properly tuned.

I have to say that given that this is a 3L 6 cylinder petrol engine, this is great fuel economy.

Yup, my wife's 125i is 10.1L/100km, and my 135i is sitting on 10.0L/100km. and, I don't drive and try to save fuel.

I learnt from driving my previous ride (an RX-8) that the only way to get the best petrol consumption around the city was to change up at every opportunity. With a car that has no torque to speak of (the RX-8), this sort of driving is not consistent with rocket-like performance.

Fuel economy certainly improves as the car runs in. I took a similar long trip over the same highways to the Hunter valley immediately after taking delivery of the car. I averaged 7.5L/100km then, and recently I got 6.9L/100km. It also takes a while to find a driving style to suit you, the car, and the traffic conditions in which you drive.

I'm getting 10.9L/100km now just in the city, with occasional peak hour runs twice a week.
