BMW apparently only installs leatherette centre armrests in the Coupes. The Boston leather part is only available for the Convertibles.
So I took the chance and ordered the Black Boston Leather centre armrest for the Convertible 135i. CDN $325.00 for the part, and CDN $50.00 for the dealer install, and it fits perfectly. The part number is in the photos above. I ordered mine from Brian Jessel BMW in Vancouver, BC. It matches the M package leather interior perfectly. And it does away with the leatherette! Love this car, Bruce KPower |

RealOEM.com lists six leather armrests for the Convertible 128i and 135i models - three for build dates pre-09/2008 and three for 09/2008 and post.
For pre-09/2008 build dates: Beige (part no. 51 16 9 144 928), Alaska Grey (part no. 51 16 9 144 927), and Schwarz (Black) "Boston" Leather (part no. 51 16 9 144 926). And for 09/2008 and post: Beige (part no. 51 16 9 202 352), Alaska Grey (part no. 51 16 9 202 351), and Schwarz (Black) "Boston" Leather (part no. 51 16 9 202 350). Convertibles with "Boston" leather in Lemon, Terra and Korall-red colors have Schwarz (Black) leather armrests. Heading out for a drive, Bruce KPower |

I've been wanting to do this with the split armrest (assuming it fits):

Awesome info guys, looks like another part I'll have to be ordering.
FYI, you can plug any part number in here and then order from Dan@United: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...215011&make1=3 He is an awesome vendor and I've ordered a lot from him, so I'll surely be getting this part from him as well.

Oh man even if you have leather seats, the arm rest is still leatherette? I had no idea... I always wondered why the armrest felt so funny
