Autocross map question

Hey guys. I have an auotmatic 2009 135i with jb4, intakes, downpipes on Michelin Pilot Super Sports. This is gonna be my first time at an autocross event. I drive on map 5 on the daily but what map should I use for autocross? Is map 5 too much power? Should I go map 1?

Ok, So first event you want to focus on remembering the key turns in the course and looking ahead while you are driving.

You;ll want to slow down enough in the slow places, to ensure a good exit angle, and then be able to control (roll in / feather the throttle)

Regardless of the Map you use, the 135 has plenty of power to overdrive the Pilot Sport tires on the course. You should use the map that you would use in city driving where you need to react and control the throttle at 15 20 or 40 mph.

If you are getting into SCCA competition the Jb4 likely increases boost which puts the car in A Street Prepared. As long as you are going for fun no worries, just don't be upset if your pax-index score is rather low. the 135 won't be competitive on a ASP PAX-index score or in national competition without suspension and R-comp tires.

hope that helps; have fun!

I ran COBB on my 135, I would flash back to a stock map for Auto-X just to be legit, the 135 will have plenty of torque n the stock configuration.

Also I chose to turn all of the DTC stuff off. I believe double push and a hold to turn all of the nanies off.

I have been running in FS for the last few events. If I run a Cobb stage 1 map (ASP), as my only mod, I have to be 2.75 seconds faster (50 second course) to have the PAX work in my favour.

Until I have a better build car, it just makes sense to stay in FS or STU. That is the big jump though. FS to STU is 1.7 second difference in PAX (same 50 second course). I'm hoping the larger wheels, and tires (lighter too) will help me cover the 1.7 second PAX spread.

I leave the traction control half off. It allows me to get a bit more aggressive, but not fully open the rear diff.

As I see the 135i class stream

FS (.81 PAX)>STU (.844 PAX)>ASP (.865 PAX)>SM (.87 PAX)
