Adaptive headlight vertical leveling motor.

Has anyone tried replacing the vertical adaptive headlight leveling motor? Any advice?

I'm thinking mine is either broken or unhooked. I'm not getting any malfunction codes, but my driver side headlight is very random. This part failed on my e46 and I was getting similar symptoms. Sometimes it just vibrates in place when I start the car. Sometimes it goes up first then aims at the floor. Sometimes it goes down then aims at the sky.

#3 in the parts diagram here:

Not sure about the motor, but have you checked the headlight mounting brackets? If you grab your headlight can you shake it in its place? If so, the leveling motor may not be able to do its job. That's what happened to me.
