Welcome! There are a few of them cropping up, especially in the VO. Excellent purchase!

Hey guys,

Great to see so many M-enthusiasts on here from Oz!

So I dont post on here often, but im a massive young M-fan...

Conveniently, ive been offered a spot allocation for the 1m...after being told there were none left, and consequently just buying a 2012 135i dct - I was thoroughly impressed with how well the n55 and dct marry... particularly with the bmw performance tune ... thinknig n55 sounds so much nicer than the old n54 ...

My previous cars were an e92 and a tuned 135i (N54) prior to that...

Im tossing up whether I should still opt for the 1m....Everyone tells me the 1m is all about the chassis and composure...coming from the m3, I can relate to what they mean, as the m3 had a more compliant ride than pretty much any car I drove prior, and it would remain composed on rubbish b-roads, while this new 135i would be DSC-ing like crazy

Do you guys think id be stupid to sell my new 135i...its literally got 500km on the clock haha!.... maybe I should just wait for the next 3/4 coupe or m3? I take clients in my car and often wonder whether a manual gives too much of a boy racer impression...is the 1M really worth it, as this dct is pretty damn practical ?

Thanks guys!

I'd maybe consider starting a new thread to avoid a

If you're not worried about the change over price my advice would be to go for it. The 1M is much better out of the box and if you drive the car enthusiastically you will get the most out of it.

My question is why did you sell a tuned N54 135i and buy a 2012 N55 DCT later? What mods were on your previous 135i? Also was the E92 the m3 you speak of?

Welcome Nelix, there are a few 1M's in Canberra, ours being one of them. There are two in AW, and at least one in VO.

I assume you are getting the car locally, assuming so it will come into Port Kembla for sure (as do all NSW and ACT cars).

We have had ours now for almost 9 months and 15000+ kms and still love it!

Bmw86, I tend to get quite ancy with my cars and like to swap them around every 1-2 years... So the n54 135i had a 3/4 hitek exhaust with CSL tips...done here in sydney...with a cf diffuser, procede V4, afe cone intake and some non-rft ... was still a street car, so I didnt want to do the suspension. The M3 was a stock manual space grey coupe...but unfortunately someone smashed into it whilst parked in paddington, and it was a write off ! ...so I took the payout and got a cheaper car...the 335i I found too boring, so opted with the 135i and dct...

Sorry for threadjacking your post guys!

Hi BI2016, don't worry about threadjacking cos this is the place to talk 1M! You would find that most of the 1M owners have come from tuned 135s and/or M3s and I haven't seen a single post of regret, both here in this oz forum and the 1M forum. You seem to enjoy the wow factor in your new cars and from all account, you will get it from the 1M. If you are enjoying the practicality of the dct in the 135 esp for the mundane runarounds, you could do as some 1M owners do, i.e. have another runner with dct/dsg. Either way, I don't think you would regret the changeover

I believe most of this oz forum's sydney 1M are located close (15-20kms) to the city. I'm prob the furthest, approx 30kms at Mt Colah. Work Rhodes. AlpineM3E92, Zuzu, Beemer and Ianf have previously met for a coffee and shoot with others at Willoughby. If you wish to have a closer look, you may have to shout Zuzu or Ian for now or come to the next meet, when it occurs

I have never heard of that exhaust being used on an n54 135i before

Also, that is really unfortunate about the M3 but glad it worked out in the end and by the sounds of it, nobody was injured.

My advice would be to go for the 1M if you're not worried about coming out in the losing side in the changeover. If you think the 135i is good, the 1M is even better. Otherwise, you can add a few suspension parts (sway bars, coilovers, maybe lsd) and come out ahead in terms of bang for buck and have a decent handling car at the same time.

I would think the 1M still has a better suspension setup as it works in perfect harmony, better resale etc. It's been discussed many times before. Also keep in mind this is when it's pushed to the limit, which most people are not willing to do anyway as it's their daily driver and it takes a lot of talent to be able to drive that way.

You could drive the 135i for 1-2 years and upgrade to the M3/M4 when it comes out, that car will be a bigger engine with more potential, they are estimating 450hp stock so I'm expecting at least 520-550hp with just a tune, maybe close to 600hp FBO. Again, that will cost more $$$. The 1M is great value at 110k.

Correct!

Lambros built something custom for me... and I ordered a Carbon diffuser from Germany to fit it...as it was a quad system...

It was a good car...just definitely had too much power ( or more so torque) for the chassis hahaha im guessing the 1m has much better power-down capabilities due to his wider track, lsd and m3 setup

I actually nearly ordered the 2012 nissan gtr, but my friends said they would disown me...so I decided against it...its abit exxie for a japanese car...but my god is the new model quick!

Im going to just wait for the guy to get back to me re the exact details of the allocation...then make my mind up....im very tempted to do it...and I got around $14k off the rrp on my 135i...so I might be able to minimise the financial damage haha!

Its also nice that the 1m is so limited, Ive seen one or two in the eastern suburbs, but thats it.
