Looking for feedback on Porterfield RS-4 Brake Pads
Gents,
As the topic title states. Looking to hear if anyone has used these before and what they thought of them. Performance, initial bite, how they handled overall, etc........ Also, if you think another pad is worth mentioning, please provide details. don't just day they were awesome. These will be pads that I will use also to drive to and from the track. Please don't mention Ferodo DS2500 pads since I have alot of experience with them (positive) on street and track. Just looking for input. Nick

After doing some more looking, i've noticed that the pads I mentioned are more of a street than track pad. Time to do some searching again.

Elsabor, I've had a great experience driving to, on, and from the track with just DTC-70s up front, OEMs rear. My brakes are more confidence inspiring than my dad's 997 911 CS with PFC-08s on all four corners. It is that good. That being said, this is not a good dual duty setup because of the corrosive dust and optimum operating temperatures of the DTC-70s, but if you are just looking for a setup that will get you there and back, I'd highly recommend it.
I plan on stepping up to the Porterfield R4-S pads for street driving when these OEMs finally bite the dust, but for tracking I'd continue to leave the rears alone and just swap in the DTC-70s.

OP, I've been running Porterfield RS-4's on all my cars for some years now... I tried them out a while back and their good intital bite along with easy pedal modulation is what sold me and I never looked back. This is for STREET however... for track stuff there are better options to be had. Granted they work amazingly on my Miata autox/track beater, but that's also a very light car and is easy on brakes period.
Unless you plan on doing lots of track duty, I don't think you'll be dissapointed! No noise, super fine dust (ie; easy to spray off), and the friction level is super linear from initial grab to full lock up.

For the track, I've been very happy with the Porterfield R4. Great bite and they last very long as well.
One of the better Street/Track pads I have used when I first started tracking was the BHP pads. I believe they are no longer available. A very similar one is the StopTech Street Performance pads. |
