ER chargepipe fitment
I am having a very respectable shop install my ER charge pipe. The technician states that the mounting flange is very close to the alternator cable, has anyone else had this problem? There is less that 1/4 inch clearance. Has anyone had evidence of contact?
EDIT/Update: I am not worried about the mounting flange. These guys are very type A, which is a good thing. They did not like the fact that the ER kit comes with cheap metal clamps. The euro clamps haave rounded edges to they won't cut into the hoses over time. I don't think I am worried about that either. What does bother me is that the diverter valve closest to the front is contacting the strut tower. The DV port actually points toward the strut tower. I have contacted ER and requested a longer piece of silicone hose. If I could position the DV about 2cm higher, it would be in that slightly recessed area of the strut tower. Another option would be a hose with about a 15 degree bend. For now, I put some electrical tape on the DV and strut tower to avoid abrasion. Ghetto, I know.

Although I've revised my set-up and no longer run the ER chargepipe, yes -- it had no "mid-point" mounting point and was secured only where it was connected to the throttle body and to the piping running to the intercooler.
There are no problems running it this way. Neil |

Evolution Raceworks just e-mailed me back and said they are sending a 6" length of the DV connector hose in the mail so I'll have plenty to work with when I revise it.
Awesome customer service. |

Junkie, any update on a final configuration that worked for you? My OEM chargepipe finally blew up this weekend ruining a track day school for me. Trying to decide on aftermarket or another OEM pipe still.

It still rubs a little on the strut tower which I have protected with a piece of adhesive dynamat, very ghetto. The kit comes with a curved piece of hose that my installer apparently trimmed, which is why I have the issue. If you use the curved piece for the front DV,l there should be no problem.

flange is very close to the pos alt cable , very dangerous, all issues posted by OP is correct with the er cp, be careful when messing with the flange near the alt cable

Overall.. I would recommend the ER over stock. I am happy that I kept mine stock during the warranty period and would not change that. I had some minor teething incidents with the ER pipe and mostly with the diverters popping off while on track, but once I got the clamps tightened down fully I have had no issues. The car feels like it definitely makes more power with the ER pipe. |
