3rd time "Check Engine Soon" Light gone.
My check engine soon light has been coming on the past couple months consistently. Last week on my way home, I started up the car and snap it went on for the 3rd time. I've been out of warranty since July and I paid for diagnostics on the first time it went off. What'd they do? They cleaned off an intake sensor and blamed the air intake oil for setting it off.
Right now, the dealership has a 135i in the shop that has the same issue, but that vehicle is covered under warranty. So, they wanna see what happens from the Puma cases and so forth. Right now, I'm beyond that and I wanna go to another dealership for another opinion. I think it's nice that they're doing that for me, but this is driving me nuts and keeps me from "spirited driving". Below are my first 2 RO's from the first 2 times it went off: |

What were the codes? I had a similar issue where I kept getting a check engine light under wot all the time before I even had an obd2 scanner. It turned out to be faulty vanos solenoids.

I started getting intermittant CEL's on mine last year, gradually got more regular over a few months until, it was throwing one or more every day. Car wasn't logging any fault codes though
Dealer only traced it to a faulty coil pack on No.5 cyl, after plugging car in and live logging while driving it around the block.

still throwing the same code. I spoke to the service manager yesterday and he said he'd get back to me. Should I just go to another dealership? I have one more month left on my lease. I'd love to keep it, but I promised myself if I was at the dealership alot I'd get rid of it. Enough is enough.

He hasn't gotten back to me yet. I've left 2 voicemails on his phone and still no reply : ( Car goes in tomorrow and they'll look over everything and see what happens. They have no resolution to my problem. Fuct again. Should I go to another dealership?

If he doesn't tell you what codes they are, then I would honestly take the car to another dealer and have them diagnose the car.

After 2 and 1/2 weeks I finally got the car back. They replaced my injectors with the current injectors and so far no CEL light has gone off. However, I've been in a 2013 328i loaner vehicle for 2 weeks and that car takes off! Performance wise it has much better acceleration than my 1, and the vehicle always felt like it was on its toes. I'm kinda bummed about this and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do? My car is out of warranty.

This. And get a ProTune down the road, it will drive even better. COBBs customer service is great...they basically act like they are begging to help with an issue from my experience lol. I e-mailed them today and thought to myself, "this will probably take a few days to hear back from them." E-mailed me back within 2 hours. To troubleshoot the cars codes with the Cobb takes like 10 seconds, it would save you a lot of dealership visits and your time. All around can't go wrong with Cobb.
