Tail light issue. Thanks for the info.

Called parts today at my dealer...he said its still showing "no movement" and they are still waiting for BMW to get inventory. The part was ordered for me on 10/27. They said it would hopefully be here 11/8...what gives BMW

I hate driving around with 1 taillight out. Even though I cant see it, its annoying haha

hopefully mine will be in soon.. but my car is in the shop because I had to send my exhaust back to CP-E to have a leak fixed (long story). So now im in now rush haha

Hmm, my dealer called me today (on a side note, they've been great about staying in contact with me) and said that he got upper management involved and they are working with the national parts network to get me a set of tail lights ASAP since I can't get the car inspected and the failure occurred literally the day I got the car.

Does anyone know what the actual problem is with the lights? I'm very tempted to take the tail light out and attempt a repair myself.

^I heard its an electrical issue.. But i could be wrong. I wouldnt fuck with it.

The other day i went to unlock my car and the light that was out flickered and was dimly on.

I'm coming from VWs and Audis, cars you always have to F with...I can't leave the car alone

just F with it by putting exhaust on it or something! leave the broken stuff to the dealer

I have read, and correct me if this is wrong, that it's a corrosion problem on the LED terminals. I guess the lights are not properly sealed against moisture.

according to my dealer the 2010 model is NOT affected by this tail light issue.

now are they just giving me the gas? or could there be some truth to it

no, and hopefully it doesnt go out. I just thought I read on here that the seals need to be replaced (if the taillights are still working)

Service manager from my dealer just called and they got one set of new tail lights in and want to make sure that they go on my car. Dropping by this evening after work to get them installed. Now I can get my car inspected and be legal again

Whether it's actually true or not, my dealer said that my "case" was a priority since the tail light failed the day I got the car and because the car needs to be inspected immediately since it was purchased out of state.

Got the car back tonight, two new tail lights and all. They noticed that the trunk brake light was cracked and replaced that too. Good luck to everyone else having tail light issues!
