Happy Tuesday everybody! mls 66,405

Sounds like it.
The water pump failure can manifest itself in a lot of odd and often counter-intuitive ways (like running cooler than normal), but in the end you'll get temp warnings even if your oil temp is showing normal (or cooler than normal). 60k-80k miles is the sweet spot (mine split the difference just over 70k).

Most likely yes, consider doing the Tstat while you're in there.
My pump went right at 70k too.

Got my car back last week with a new water pump and battery. Shes all good now, handling the triple digit heat with no problem.

My FIRST water pump went out at 55,000 miles. Had the engine temp warning and went into limp mode. My SECOND water pump went out at 77,000 miles (two years and one day after the first) and the only symptom was the radiator fan would go on constantly. My car sounded like an airplane! Luckily, it was still under warranty so I didn't have to pay for the second one.
