I've had a 335i Coupe for about a year and a half now and it's a fantastic car. I've also driven the 135i and I think it's also a fantastic car, that's even more fun to drive than my 335i. This probably isn't a popular opinion on this board, however, but I'm salivating over the prospect of the rumored twin turbo four-cylinder engine in a lighter 1-series as part of the next generation 1-Series.

It's called a MINI Coopers S, and it's already here.

MINI is only single-turbo and FWD - not what people here are quite looking for, perhaps...

I owned a turbo mini cooper R56, that torque steer is no joke, it's also single turbo and has a little lag

MINI is a twin-scroll turbocharger, not single.

Edit: Their silly Flash-intensive site breaks that link, but if you go to 'Learn -> Cooper S Hardtop -> Performance', there's a pop-up with some details on the engine.

You're confusing your terminology. "Twin-scroll" is a turbo technology. "Twin turbo" means 2 turbos.

No, I'm not. I know they're not the same thing. That's why I specifically said twin-scroll, and not 'twin turbo'. It still greatly reduces the turbo lag.

I hear ya. I'm trading mine in on Monday, but mine's the old supercharged powerplant, not the Turbo. I drove a few different turbo models on different occasions - very different feeling.

The Cooper S, which is a hoot to drive, only has one turbo.
