Non Run-flat Tires

Aren't RFTs heavier than normal tires - and if so, would that mean better MPG if I switch to non-runflats?

Minimal difference at best, IMHO. They are a bit lighter.

Does anyone know if 245/40/18 fit on the stock rear rims properly?

Yeh they will fit properlly but the profile will be a bit bigger.

Gil from Tire Rack confirmed 245/40 however he did turn me on to 255/35 so maybe I will consider the 255/35.
