Re-read my reply. No where did I say I was crazier than Long Tran. He installed the steering wheel for me. LOL where did you even get that from?? I'm just saying there's better options out there like the performance ones which I didn't go for and instead I went with something that's different that no one has done on the 1 series before period. You can try to prove me wrong, but you can't cause there isn't another car like mine. Take a look at my wheels for example, no one else had them before me and still only a few have it. I'm proud to have something no one else doesn't what made you think I was trying to one up Long Tran?? Me and him aren't even in the same business? Plus he's my personal friend LOL I see him every week.....

nice (i guess) but the difference seems so trivial that the money could have been better spent elsewhere... just my 0.02

not worth the teaser, IMO.

It just looks like the wheel from the sport package, but I like how you had the stitching changed to black so no one confuses you as a poser who puts ///M stuff on your non-M car.

the main thing to note is that I don't have sports package like 99.99% of the 1 series owners on the board, so the steering wheel I had wasn't even the one you guys with the sport package are so accustomed to, so it's a big difference to me. plus like I've stated on and on, i dont want any M badging or m association with my car. I guess I'm kinda sticking to a purist root in that sense. I'm detail oriented guy, so if one little thing bugs me, I'm going to change it. like the steering wheel for example. I'm happy with it.

having spent three years with a non sport wheel, I totally agree with your upgrade. Looks good, love what you've done with your car.

Why didn't you just pick up a wheel from a sport packaged 135? I'm not sure how much you paid for that wheel, but I'm sure it's more expensive than the sport package steering wheel.

if you had an option for a m-sport wheel or a modified/thicker m3 steering wheel which would you choose

If I was coming from the standard wheel (which I've felt), I'd go with the normal M-Sport wheel. To me the M wheel wouldn't be worth the extra money, especially when you consider it was modified to look exactly like the M-Sport wheel!

I got a 135 M wheel and the grip felt great unless you got big hand then you need a custom one.

the m-sport wheel is based off the m steering wheel so it's not the other way around. all these m sport packages are based of the m cars. I don't want to get in to that. But I had a chance to do something no one has done on a 1 series before so i jumped on it.

Yes, I do have big hands in fact, thats why i got the thicker option and didn't even settle on a regular m3 steering wheel.

Oh and the M3 steering wheel has smooth napa leather and not peforated like the m-sport one.

Damn people are flaming on you John!? Just so everyone knows the price for this custom wheel was less than the M wheel from Tischer so John made a smart move when it came to upgrading a part of the car that you touch every time you get into the driver seat. A new wheel changes the interior look as well as the driving experience.

John could have just purchased the normal M wheel but there would have been nothing special about it. HE PAID LESS and got a customized wheel that no one else has with the stitching he wanted, the thickness he wanted, and no M badge. If you ask me thats a smart purchase.

It's fine, I know it's hard to please everyone and everyone has his or her own opinions. The original thread was hyped so much, after my one post. I guess people are disappointed in me that's all. I can understand that. Thanks for backing me up Alex! Sometimes it can be hard doing something that hasn't been done before.

Nice! I love steering wheels with thicker grip, afterall they are something you interact with 99% of time when you're driving.

Looking to get this for my gf for Christmas.... can you tell me how much you're charging for this? My gf has the non sport package 128i and she is just looking for the outer part (steering wheel) with easy installation. Please let me know how much asap. Thanks!
