Where to?

So here I am sitting patiently on the forums... sorta. I am awaiting the arrival of my 2013 135i M-Sport package, etc... only 6 weeks to go. Where would you recommend going during the first 1000 miles for a break in trip?

In 6 weeks there could be a lot of snow, so of course base the trip along the idea that a snow storm could start any point.

Depending on where you're at/stationed plays a big part on where you should travel too. Let us know!

Hey guys I'm in the Wiesbaden area. I have my winter set up coming from tire rack so hopefully the snow won't be an issue. I know of one road out near Rudesheim that is comparable to the turns at the nurburgring. But I often get three day weekends so a two night trip would be fantastic.

I always go to the ring on the last weekend in November. Every year it seems to hold out for snow until december so its usually a fantastic way to end the season. I'll watch weather as the time approaches and move up the trip if it seems eminent snow will arrive early.

Join me then! Should be empty as usual that time of the year.

Another Wiesbadener! Until the break-in miles are finished I'd say just drive randomly in circles.
Once spring is here there's all sorts of great places to go. We're planning a group drive to the Akrapovic factory and there's also talk of a return to Stelvio Pass. Just keep your eyes on the forums.

ooh stelvio. i did that drive in august with an M3 buddy. i was planning a club trip back there next june. we should definitely hook up.

i'm also planning a private track day at SPA francorchamps in spring. not to mention a monthly car control slalom and intensive driver training on odd months.

2013 will be busy.

I broke mine in at the Fränkische Schweiz. It is a state national park. Basically the triangular area from: Bamberg, Bayreuth to Nürnberg. I tried to avoid driving n the autobahn for the fist 2K kms. And when I had to drive on the autobahn, I always varied my throttle. I also changed my engine oil at 2K kms, 5K kms and then every 5K or 6K kms.

Since you live in Wiesbaden, I would drive along the Rhine or Mosel river(s). I have always really liked the Mosel better though. Cochem is one of my favorite places around there. IF you were to drive from Cochem to Tier that is a great drive! And of course it is near the 'Ring on the way back!

HA I bought the jacket my last time out at the Nurburgring... It happens to be my favorite color combination.

But I will be taking some better pictures this upcoming week with my buddies camera. I bought a Go Pro too but it will take some time for me to get all that going with video editing and what not.

Theoneman - congrats on the arrival of your car! Now the hard part breaking her in.

IF you want some more ideas on where to drive... checkout my ED link under my sig. Post #20 I posted some of Porsche AG's recommended drives/tours while on ED. It might give you some great ideas. You might want to get a set of snow tires/wheels... since by German law when its under 7'C you need them or you can be charged at fault in an accident.

Nice...but take it slow as the weather is crappy and these cars make a lot of power. i got my car last veterans day and by year end only had 850+ miles. so had to make up for it in the spring.....

BTW, welcome to our European forum...keep watching these pages as we have quite an active group, lots of modding, lots of tracking, lots of community spirit!!! Looking forward to meeting you at one of our events.

I can assure you I have found it to be quite powerful. Had it sideways a couple times.

The sad thing is, three things went out on it at mile 22. :-( Hill Assist, DSC, and the ABS. I was just cruising along at 80Kph and got the three warnings telling me to take it in to get serviced. Tragicly I work nights all weekend, have a Belgium trip planned for monday and tuesday, then work three nights in a row after that. So it is a good thing that it is in the break in period so I am keeping it extra slow already.

IF you don't have time to take your car in... you can also call BMW Assist and have them come and read the codes for free. It might just be something simple. Do you have the German 0800 number?

BMW Mobiler Service aus dem In- und Ausland:
+49 89 14 379 479

inside Germany you only need to dail: 89 14 379 479

http://www.bmw.de/de/de/owners/bmw_s...leservice.html

BMW also has a service where they will come and pick up your car for service. Here is the website just plug in your German zip code to find a dealer near you!
