You can use a gopro tripod mount to connect it to the box, as shown here on my 1M

Or you can take off the box, and use a roll bar mount.

The long bar is very easy to install and remove. It is all quite stable. Probably the most unstable bit is the car seat and head rest bars themselves, but overall gives a nice perspective. You can see shifting etc. I'm going to a ADS at Mosport at the end of April. If there is any decent footage, I'll post some. Won't be in Advevo's league obviously.
I have same set-up, except I have the bar connected to the drivers seat headrest. Shooting 1080p 30fps with 120 degree angle of view. Couldn't be happier with results.

This sounds like what i want to do with my GoPro2. Do you have a link to any vids you have done with this setup and since its connected to your drivers seat does it vibrate less maybe? Also, do you think this will be ok for BMW HPDE or will the instructors think its not safe? Sorry for all the questions.

Embarrassed to admit I haven't yet figured out how to post video

Yes, I put it there both 'cause I figured there would be less vibration and because it's closer to what I actually see.

Shouldn't be a problem with HPDE tech inspection.

GoPro tip: The lower you mount it the faster it looks like your going. So bottom of front bumper would give the video that more exciting/faster effect.

Not in the 1M but you get the idea...
Looks like Barber? If so...my favorite track in the south!

Although, I did wreck at about 115Mph at turn 10 on my 1K GSX-R a couple of years ago...gave me a pucker factor of 8+!! Luckily, I walked away just fine and only had to replace the clutch for around 50 bucks. Was back out in about an hour. I love summer track days with friends! Great times.

Any suggestions how to fix this? Is there an exposure setting maybe?
You need to set the exposure for "Spt" which stands for "spot meter".
From the instructions: "Spot meter is primarily for shooting from inside a car. Spot meter adjusts the exposure for the absolute center of the scene. For example the road ahead instead of the interior of the car."

The alternate setting is "Cnt" which is is the default setting which is "center weighted average meter".

Sorry, to clarify, those are the names for the older Hero.
For the Hero2, under "spot" it is just "on" or "off. Pick "on" for seeing the road/track better from an inside the car mount.

Quite right. And I have it "on" for shooting from inside my car.

Ive driven next to someone who had the GoPro on the outside with just the suction mount at about 160 mph. It held up fine. But I personally would try to find some additional support for high speed stuff.

I believe that Helix (www.helix13.com) sells a similar device.

EDIT: Yep, here it is: http://www.helix13.com/1-series-bmw/accessories/#go

Keep the vids and ideas, home made mounts coming guys! I just started playing with where to mount my gopro finding good angles, stable/unstable locations etc. Just a little teaser from the easter weekend.

I've seen that one before but I'll be primarily using this for track days and I need to have a towhook on my car. The Rennline is nearly $200 delivered to Aus!

Can't someone local fabricate one for you? Would imagine it would save you a lot of coin!

Not sure where I would go to for something like this. Plus don't really want to go around having to do all the homework and also not knowing whether it will function properly or how it will look. It's much more convenient to order something online and have it delivered to my door. Shame the one I want is so expensive though

diggin out this old thread - I built "my own" gopro passenger seat mount. I used the original BMW basic carrier and the matching BMW bag hook. I turned both parts upside down and used one of the gopro sticky pads. unfortunately I have to turn around the headrest but other than that it works pretty much as I wanted it to.
the second pic shows the angle the camera is recording with.
