Battery Registration

I always thought I would have to get a new battery registered for my 2008 128 but I just read from Mike Miller that battery registration for all BMWs starts in 2011 [Roundel Jan/Feb 2023, page 83]. But there are many models prior to 2011 that also require registration. Anyone able to clarify this?

When I had the dealer replace the battery in my 2008, they registered it.

I think having the right battery coded in is a must if you have IBS (which I think all 1 Series do). Registration might be only so you can get a good readout on battery condition in INPA. Or it might be really important. Sorry for not being much help.

Registration is so easy I'd go ahead and do it.

I can't recall which one of the 1000 drug commercials show the cure for it.

I registered the new battery in my 2009 128i in INPA. It was the same size as the OEM.
