Switching Rear Spoilers

Not that any of us in the US has our 135’s yet, but I wonder how hard it will be for me to change out the rear spoiler for the CF spoiler on my own? Maybe some of the EURO guys can let us know. If its just a few bolts, then hey, I can do that and save some cash in the process.

Recent BMWs with spoilers/gurney flaps have used double sided body tape for mounting. Use a good strength nylon fishing line and work it under the OE spoiler and gradually 'cut' it off. Remove any remaining adhesive with Goo-Be-Gone or similar paint friendly product. Carefully align the new spoiler and install.

Pour lots of hot water onto the seals first to loosen the glue.

I plan to powder coat the alloys anthracite and get the rear CF wing.

I'm also partial to the titanium silver stripe or black along the hard shoulder line as seen on some. With the CF wing, you may as well go for the mirror caps and rear diffuser too. I assume you're made of money.

using a hairdryer to heat the glue will make it easier to cut through and get off.

Speaking of the rear diffuser, I wonder how easy that one will be to replace.

Has anybody purchased the Tii carbon fibre spoiler and did the install yet? I am thinking of purchasing this item, and wonder if it was possibble to do a self install or do I have to bring the car in for a dealer install? If I had to do a dealer install, anyone have an idea how much that would cost?

What do you think it would look like on a car with a darker color like the montego blue instead of the white Tii 135I?

I honestly can't imagine that spoiler is attached with anything more than 3M automotive tape (instead of screws).

When my 135i comes in, I plan on installing it myself that way (unless the dealership does it for free).

Jockey, could you post pics of your instal when you do it?

I guess the original little spolier will have to come off using flossing tape, and than the surface cleaned with Goo-Gone, and than the new CF spolier to be stuck on using the 3M automotive tape?

I am looking forward to seeing pics of the CF spoiler on your car.
Have you already ordered the CF Spoiler? Who did you get it from?
