Cannot be done, or they don't want to look into it, because they would much rather sell an alarm?

Well yeah, why would they give you that option for free if you did not pay to have the clown nose blink/alarm.

Don't blame them, want it to blink pay the extra $ and get the alarm otherwise stop dreaming.

Shit happens.

I figured this would be the case. Selling the alarm generates money for BMW NA along with dealer parts and service depts.

Wrong, that is why a car has options, otherwise you would be paying
$60000 for a 330 fully loaded and I mean fully loaded. Options are there to suit your budget and taste. If you didn't det something it means you didn't buy it or you were on the limit of what you were prepared to spend or could afford. Dont blame BMW blame your Wallet!!

But then they do get better sound systems standard, rain sensors and auto lights standard, Xenons incl. adaptive, Pro-Navi only... And their cars cost a lot less.

Yes it's not like they (americans) pay $48000 for 320's in the states. Be happy for what you got. The USA market stills scores big in what the pay for their cars.

Thanx man.

But just think about it. If you want premium/ full house E90, pay the price for the extra's.
Don't just pay the base price, and expect a M5/ Full house.

I bought a 320 with R70 000-00's worth of options, more than a 330 fully loaded in AMERICA. STOP BITCHING and pay!

No pun!

i just figured I would rather have a 320 with ever imaginable gadget inside to keep me happy than to buy a stock 325 or 330 with nothing inside. The speed limit is any way only 120km/ph rather have all the toys than a few seconds 0-60 performance advandage.

It shouldn't be hard to rig something up. I run an industrial electronics firm and we breadboard all kinds of things like this.

This is what you could do. Using a rechargeable battery and some simple circuitry, you take a switched feed from somewhere in the overhead console - like the guys hardwiring their V1s, While the car is running, the battery is kept charged. When the car is shut down, the circuit switches to battery and gets fed to the lamp in the clown nose. Not sure if it is a filament or an LED. If it is the former, we could replace it with an LED. Circuitry would make it blink at a predetermined rate to scare the bad guys.

Radio shack parts - probably less than $20 and a couple of hours.

I'll work on it. We're busy right now but I'll see if I can come up with a wiring diag and a list of parts.

I hope my comment was not misinterpreted, (feeling negative vibes), I was just curious as to BMWs motivation. I don't really care if the clown nose blinks or not. I have gotten used to it not blinking and don't think my car is less safe than if it did blink. I agree with your comment about the necessity of options to individualize your car, but I think your "blame your wallet" comment was out of line.

I also think your 60k 330i analogy is incorrect. Price is not indicative of cost. There are very few products that are sold with a cost+ model in consumer markets. Price is determined by the market, not cost accountants. Does an Australian E90 cost more than an American E90 because of the cost of the product? No, its because of what the markets will bear. Wonder why the E60 comfort access is twice that of the E90s? Again, the market. Like any product, BMW has determined a price that maximizes profit and volume.

What I was saying that in your country you get a fully or almost fully loaded 330 for what the rest of the world has to pay for a 320/ 323/325. If someone has to bitch it should be us and not you.

Actually the E60 system works on all 4 doors, thus has about double the equipment , thus twice the price

I really don't mind paying for it at the moment and get it installed but I believe alarm is something that should be included on any new car. I just don't understand the purpose of BMW selling an E90 without an alarm. I think there are other ways for BMW NA to make money off their customers..

I do agree with your statement above.

I just didn't realize that my tone was "bitching". That was not my intention.
